Where do you put your clothes at bedtime

And how do you stop having a floordrobe?

Has any non-tidy/disorganised person happened on any top tips, easy habits to create that would help me from being overtaken by clothes that are in the 'wear again' pile in the corner of our bedroom?

Everytime I reorganise the drawers and wardrobes, they stay neat for a few days then the piles just build back up worse than ever.

DH is tidy, poor thing, but he's fighting a losing battle as I'm encroaching on his clothes territory,

I just do not and never have had a system. If you have, could you share pls?

Any easy tips welcome.

Hooks! I bought 2xsets of 4 hooks and they are in the bedroom next to my wardrobe. Anything I'm going to wear again gets hung up.

RallySooney · 13/07/2024 21:57

We have an Eames style rocking chair in the corner of our bedroom. We fling our clothes on it which immediately makes the chair look awful but the alternative is the floor. It's a problem.

RookieMa · 13/07/2024 21:57

I drape them over the clothes rail I bought to replace my chairobe

RookieMa · 13/07/2024 21:58

And the hooks on my door

summerlovingvibes · 13/07/2024 21:58

Folded up on top of the laundry basket if I plan to wear again.

RookieMa · 13/07/2024 21:59

Some still end up on the floor though

TheFloorDrobeHasGotMe · 13/07/2024 21:59

Chair is definitely needed. Just need tips on how not to make it into a chair drobe!

I honestly wonder if I need a list on the back of the door:

Step 1 - take off clothes
Step 2 - fold jeans, jumper and bra and lit on chair
Step 3 - put knickers and socks in wash basket
Step 4 - put on PJs

I'm 57 for gods sake!!!

I have a little straw basket just for this purpose - like a straw bag.

picnicfuntimes · 13/07/2024 22:00

Drop food down them in the evenings. Then they’re dirty. Much easier.

Whatineed · 13/07/2024 22:01

I have one of those ikea metal valet stands in the corner of my room for clothes I'll wear again before I wash them, or clothes prepared for the next day.

Excellent plan, I like your style!!

Hooks on the back of the en suite door.

But currently on there is a Christmas going out dress, a summer maxi dress, dungarees and a cardigan on one hook...

On the other hook is another pair of dungarees and two dressing gowns...

I also have a pile of clothes on top of my chest of drawers to put away...

Time to declutter.

Mum2jenny · 13/07/2024 22:02

Floor every time, sort them out in the morning. Dirty clothes to dirty clothes box, the others aka bra, trousers get put back on again with fresh knickers, socks and top. Job done!!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 13/07/2024 22:04

I have these on the end of the wardrobe.

@subtletyisntlostonme

Same here - we have hooks on back of the en-suite and also on back of bedroom door.

Full of random treasures 🙈🙈🙈

I think I actually am going to do the task list and print it off.

I too suffer from a floordrobe. But I have trialed hanging clothes to be re-worn on the hook on the back of the door and that can work.

I just need more hooks and a new home for the dressing gowns now 🙈.

Proutrfht · 13/07/2024 22:07

I have a drawer under my bed I use for in between clothes (not ready to go in the wash but not clean enough to put them back in the wardrobe). Some clothes live in there for months, but keeps them off the floor!

painkiller86 · 13/07/2024 22:07

Haven't rtft but we got a standalone clothes hook thingy/cloak stand with several arms. Life changing.

TheFloorDrobeHasGotMe · 13/07/2024 22:08

@PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich

That is very fancy indeed.

My wardrobe is actually in another room (which probably doesn't help) but that is very cool.

Am wondering if one of these would help or would eventually buckle under the weight....

On The Chair

Which exists solely for this purpose and is never day upon (because it always has clothes on!)

TheFloorDrobeHasGotMe · 13/07/2024 22:09

@painkiller86

Cross posted - in what way has it helped?

unless i am wearing for work, they go on the back of the chair if not in the laundry basket.

Oh that looks fab @PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich, where did you buy these?

DoYouSmokePaul · 13/07/2024 22:11

I have a row of hooks on the back of the bedroom door. I hang worn things on there on hangers.

Ikea. I'm pretty sure they'd attach to any wardrobe easily enough. I think they're called valet hooks or something.
