Appreciate that I’m very very late to the game ! Watched the first two episodes last night, enjoyed it somewhat but can’t work out whether it’s worth watching the other 7 seven series….. Read that the last episode of all was apparently brilliant. Is it really that good ?

IMHO one of the greatest series of all time. I've watched it several times and every time I see something new.
If you've only watched 2 episodes, all I would say is pay attention in episode 3 when Don is on the train!
It's one of those series where nothing much seems to happen for a couple of episodes and then you realise later how small things were significant. It shows so clearly the inbuilt sexism of the period but then we watch the characters change and grow. I love the strong female characters in it - not just Peggy, who have a proper story arc. Some of the best scenes though are between Don and Peggy.
I think it dips a bit around S4 and 5 but S7 and especially the final episode are top notch. I cry every time.
In the end, this is the story of Don Draper and what made him who he is - but then again, as a journalist asks him at one point "Who is Don Draper?"

Stick with it. You won't regret it.

“I still think about the characters, and wonder how the rest of their lives carried on”.
Me too @NorthRiding , I think it’s high time to bring those characters into the seventies…or even the early eighties!
Funnily enough, I’m rewatching it now. Don and Betty are very very beautiful, but their acting skills leave a little to be desired…(I could watch Joan and Roger all day, though.)

I am watching it at the moment - just started season 6 - and really enjoying it. Was watching with DH but he got fed up with it so I left it for a bit but started again where we left off with season 5.

I remember being shocked by the picnic scene too @HammockFullOfRats!

The smoking doesn’t surprise me as I remember lots of people smoking when I was a child and teen. I’m 60. 3 out of my 4 grandparents smoked and all of my aunts and uncles. My dad was the only one who didn’t.

It’s the drinking in the office all day that still shocks me in Mad Men. And I worked in London in the 80s when we routinely drank at lunchtime!

I watch it and think how my mum would have loved it.

I would also love a reboot of Mad Men in say the 80's

Peggy has worked her way up and how?

Wonder how Sally turned out, and what she would be doing.

Don in or near retirement.

The Carousel episode and The Suitcase are both brilliant.

I watched it when it first came out and when season 7 finished, I started the series again from the beginning. I loved it
