What time does your local school start in the morning?

It strikes me that many families and children must have to get up really, really early to get to school!

My local secondary school opens its doors at 7.30, the academic school day starts at 8.20. I see neighbours children leaving the house just after 7am (it's a 25 min walk). It must be a nightmare to get teenagers up and ready for 7am!

I think the primary schools probaby start at around 8.45, if the traffic/parking is anything to go by.

Lessons start at 9.15, they like the kids to be there for 9, but there’s a 10-15 minute extra

Gates open 08.45 and then close at 09.00, they prefer you to be in for 08.44 though.

Finishes at 3.15.

Primary was 8.45am for Infant and 8.30am for Juniors (two seperate entrances so the parents had to move from one door to the next if they had children in each building).

We dropped DD off at her childminder at 7.45am so I could get a train just after 8am.

Secondary - they have to be at the desk at 8.25am. DD goes prior to her locker to drop off her coat and grab the folders she needs.

She has a 40 minute walk and leaves the house at 7.30am. She gets up at 6.30am, has breakfast at 7am.

I think the school opens the gate at 8am and they offer some breakfast (toast or porridge, free for the FSM children or you can pay for it).

Friend's DCs have to take a bus and leave at 6.50am otherwise they can't get on it.

Secondary 0800 doors open, day starts 0830

Primary School bell at 0850; gates open from 0840. 330 finish for all years.

Secondary 0850-1535 (except Friday, which is earlier finish).

Secondary is 8.25am to 3pm. Ds leaves the house at 7.40am to get on the school bus which gets him to school for 8.10am

My DDs secondary opens up at 7:50 and registration is at 8:20, finishing at 2:50.

My son's school was 8:45 to 5:30, but that's unusual.

I can't remember my kids primary school times, but my nephew's starts at 8:50 and ends at 3:15.

DDs junior starts at 8.30. Gates open at 8.20

DSs infants start at 8.40. It used to be 8.55 until the government put in the extended school day a year or two ago.

Classes start at 7.20am. School gates open from 6.30am. it's not unusual for families/ drop offs on the way to work, to start from 6am.

Classes end at 2pm and 1.30pm on Fridays. But there are always sports and extra murals after.

Who is getting teens up and ready? They are teens not toddlers.

College starts just before 9 but the bus leaves at 8. Home at about 1730.

Primary is 8.45, secondary 8.30

I think it's a 1620 finish, so 0850 to 1620.

primary - 7.40am -11.45am
Secondary - 7.40am-1pm.

I guess the whole country manages to get up on time. Children don’t eat lunch at school unless they are staying for afternoon club equivalent then they take packed lunch with them.

Ds is at kindergarten. The morning sessions are 7am-12. We are usually the last ones there at 7.45-8am

I work in a primary school. I get up at 6.30, arrive at school about 20 minutes before I actually start work. Breakfast club opens at 8. Classrooms open at 8:40 close at 8:50. After 8:50 children are marked as late.
