What time does your local school start in the morning?

It strikes me that many families and children must have to get up really, really early to get to school!

My local secondary school opens its doors at 7.30, the academic school day starts at 8.20. I see neighbours children leaving the house just after 7am (it's a 25 min walk). It must be a nightmare to get teenagers up and ready for 7am!

I think the primary schools probaby start at around 8.45, if the traffic/parking is anything to go by.

Local Primaries open the doors between 8:35 and 8:45, the local high school opens the doors at 8:20.

Yes, secondary tends to be an earlier start and finish than primary.

Secondaries - 8.15-8.30
Independents - 8am

Officially 8.35 but you can drop off from 8 (fee paying school)

We specifically choose the closest school to home to reduce morning stress

If you are in England this is rare at a secondary school. Most start 8.45 - 9.00 am and won't open the doors to pupils before about 8.15am. There may be an earlier 'breakfast club' but even that is rarely before 8am.

Primaries: 8:45-8:50 to 15:00-15:15
Secondaries: 8:40-8:55 to 15:10-15:30

Primary: 905 to 305 (P1-P3) and 315 (P4-P7)
High School: 850 - 345 except on Fridays when they have a halfday finish at 1230

Teens leaving at 7am either have a before school activity or are choosing to meet up with others before school.

(For comparison, we live a 15 minute walk from secondary school. School starts at 8.30am. DS would get up at 8.10am)

My dc school is as follows;

Primary - breakfast club opens at 08.15, normal school time between 8.45-9. School finishes 15.10, Home 15.30.

Secondary- dc leaves the house at 7.40, bus picks him up at 07.50, school starts at 8.20. Home by 15.15 ish. School finishes about 14.55 (I think).

Primary the first lesson starts at 08:30am, so children are on site and registered by 08:15am, they finish at 15:30pm.

Our secondary opens doors at 8am and registration is 8.30am. My DD leaves the house at 7.15am to get there for 8am (she could leave later but chooses not to). Getting up is fine, I don't even get up with her anymore.

Independent primary - DS Y2 must be there no later than 8:30am. DS Y5 8:15 am.

most secondaries are 8.30-3.30 with an hour for lunch, though some have gone to 8-3, and one has gone from 7.55-2pm.

The secondary school I taught at served a free breakfast from 7.30 am and registration was at 8.30 am. Loads of children took advantage of the free breakfast and then went into the playground for a game of football, to the library to do homework or just sat and chatted in the dining room.

We then had 5 hours of lessons with two short breaks before the day ended at 2.45. Extra lessons and clubs carried on for an hour or so, these were very popular.

Primary... breakfast club from 8am, school day starts 8.50
Secondary... opens 8am, starts 8.35.
College... the lessons appear to start on the hour. 9-5 I think.

My DDs first Primary school ran from 7.30am-1pm. The secondary school bus left the village at 6.50am....

School starts at 9.00am in local primary. Starts at 9.05am in DS1's secondary.
