What is it with men and dishwashers???

I cannot believe the amount of times I read stories about men losing their shit about how the dishwasher is loaded!!!

Full disclaimer I am a 40 year old man, me and my wife got a free dishwasher from a family member somehow ages ago, but never got it connected up because we just hand wash everything. I really don't get the attraction of them! First you basically have to clean everything anyway, and then you have to have some machine humming for hours in the background using electricity and water (££££!!!) and then everything just has a really gross chemical touch/taste afterwards! What's wrong with a thorough handwash, letting it air dry then packing away few hours later??

So yes i'm ranting about why I hate dishwashers but why is it always men who kick off when its not loaded properly?? I never women comment about how their husband has loaded in wrong?? I honestly don't get why men seem to get so annoyed about it!😅

Unless there's some weaponised incompetence going on, I think anyone who moans and nags their partner for not loading the dishwasher the "right" way needs to get a life.

Does it really matter if cups go on the left hand side of the rack or the right?

My husband is ace and does his fair share and more of all household and kids stuff. But he is a total annoyance when it comes to the dishwasher! He calls the art of stacking the dishwasher “stackology” and pronounces himself an expert. 🙄

Not sure the tone of my question came across but this is a light hearted issue! 😀
We are a married couple with a small baby so we don't have a massive amount of washing up to do every day, plus we don't actually own a lot of stuff so if we don't wash it up straight away we cant use it again!

@FormerlyPathologicallyHappy I do actually refuse to believe that a dishwasher buzzing away for hours uses less water and electricity than a straight up wash in the sink a couple of times a day. Can someone post a scientific link this is true??

@MinnieMountain yes I know mumsnet is 90% women but as a man I do find the opinions on a variety of subjects valuable.

And here is your evidence. From Maddie Moat's bloke

I love my dishwasher and would never be without one. But DH is an utter twat at loading it. The concept of water circulating around the stuff he stacks on top of each other is clearly not something he can grasp.
