I’ve recently enjoyed listening to a couple of episodes of the Swindled podcast (Nestlé infant formula scandal and Herbalife MLM) and a few of the Chris VT UPF podcasts. Any other podcasts similar or with interesting factual info I could listen to next?

In our time or Lady Killers on BBC Sounds app.

Have also started listening to Mythical Creatures by Rhiannon Pratchett.

Backwiththeillbehaviour · 25/02/2024 07:36

Chris Skinners Countryside podcast is brilliant for history/wildlife.

I really like The Rest is History. I haven't tried The Rest is Politics - is that worth a go?

Mumofmarauders · 25/02/2024 07:45

Cautionary Tales by Tim Harford is great. Some of the ones recommended above also look brilliant, what a helpful thread!

Also following

LivingColour · 25/02/2024 07:50

Freakanomics is excellent, but slightly different to what you have mentioned as each episode (mainly, some are two or three parters) is on a different topic.

RipleyGreen · 25/02/2024 07:53

@Magnificen I did too. It’s quite an old podcast now, and her husband has since been sentenced for her murder.

Backinthedress · 25/02/2024 07:54

Another vote for Visible Women.
Also

  • Sideways - bbc sounds.
RipleyGreen · 25/02/2024 07:56

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g Yes, it’s very good. Red Box Politics is also good if politics your bag. The Week Unwrapped with Olly Mann ace too.

NomenNudum · 25/02/2024 07:58

History of the world in 100 objects and In our time on BBC sounds

The BBC has an enormous back catalogue on Sounds which would be worth exploring. I think I'm right in saying the entire set of Desert Island Discs is on there. Some of the interviews can be very revealing. The one with Jamie Dornan recently stood out, also the one with Adrian Edmondson. In Our Time and The Life Scientific might be worth a look too. All in the Mind can be good.

BarrelOfOtters · 25/02/2024 08:42

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g i like the rest is politics, but it slightLy suffers from the same thing as Newscast, in that it can be a bit too Westminster love in. But Rory is lovely to listen to and has an interesting take on the world.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/02/2024 08:44

Thanks, @BarrelOfOtters and @RipleyGreen! I'll give it a go. I don't mind a Westminster focus, especially in an election year.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 25/02/2024 08:49

We Didn't Start the Fire - modern history podcast that goes through all the things mentioned in the song, so you get music, politics, war, books and (a bit too much) baseball

Whatineed · 25/02/2024 08:57

I listen regularly to:

This is actually happening
Dateline podcast
British Scandal
Even the Rich
The Economics of Everyday things
Stuff you should know
Scamfluencers
You're dead to me

Really interesting one off podcasts I've enjoyed:
Frozen Head
Dr. Death
Joe vs Carole
Stolen Hearts
Do no harm
Dirty John
You must remember Manson
Will be wild
Epstein - Devil in the darkness
Chasing Cosby

Rainbowqueeen · 25/02/2024 09:03

What’s her name - amazing women you’ve never heard of. Focuses on a different woman each episode

Topofthemountain · 25/02/2024 09:04

Carrie Jade Doesn't Exist (there was a thread on here when she claimed she was being sued by her Airbnb guests for being disabled.)

Your own backyard - the original is older as it was an old case, but it goes right through to the trial.

Twin Flames.

The Retrievals

Teachers Pet - has had more episodes since the original.

Can I tell you a secret? Now a Netflix show.

Currently listening to The Wedding Scammer.

I also like Murder They Wrote - 30mins, stand-alone, an easy listen (though can be a bit gruesome at times)

Koo47 · 25/02/2024 09:08

This is great!

I also like This Jungian Life and Moral Maze which haven’t been mentioned here.

I like In Our Time too.

can’t wait to look these up, have been looking for something.
