Favourite Teabags?

I’ve just quit drinking & like last time, I’m craving tea! Any teabag recommendations? We currently have some sort of mixed blend from M & S but DH prefers Tetley which I usually buy. Dmil always favoured Yorkshire tea.

M&S gold.. really good strong cuppa

Mariage Frères Marco Polo

Wow, I only had that when I was in Sri Lanka where they produced it.
But is that your everyday cuppa?

puddypud · 02/02/2024 10:29

Yorkshire or M&S Everyday tea. I do like some of the Wittards blends too. The loose Earl Grey and oolong ones are lovely. I always feel like Tetley's tastes like murky water, I might just be a tea snob.

Glengettie by far.

Otherwise it's Waitrose Nettle, Gingko and Peppermint to which I am totally addicted!

Ringtons is just confusing. "Gold" tea bags, "Traditional" tea bags, "Breakfast" tea bags, "Traditional Cuppas" tea bags, "Traditional for your mug" tea bags

I mean what the bloody hell is all that about?!

Haha, I know what you mean! I stick with the Gold and it's excellent.

I have two cups a day usually (from one teabag). I like it that much I'll shell out for it.

Also keep Yorkshire Gold and sometimes drink it with oat milk if I want something more robust. But if I had to choose, it would be Marco Polo.

Now I'm thinking about a trip to Sri Lanka!

Clipper. It tastes good, is fair trade and the bags are compostable.

This for me too, for all the above reasons.

Twinings English Breakfast has gone sadly downhill.😡

Cotswoldbee · 02/02/2024 11:12

Yorkshire Gold.
OH occasionally tries other brands but always comes back to YG.

bluesatin · 02/02/2024 11:14

Miles' tea. I only ever use loose tea, but I assume their tea bags are the same. However the taste of your tea depends on your water supply, so you'll have to experiment. https://www.milesteaandcoffee.com/

M&S Gold. Loose leaf is better if you can be arsed, but the bags are good too. It's the only 'everyday' tea I've found that doesn't have that mouth-drying tanniny thing.

reluctantbrit · 02/02/2024 11:24

Tea bags - Williamsons English Breakfast

But we normally drink loose tea a lot as well and it's either Fortumne & Mason or Good & Proper, I like their Kenya one.

LauderSyme · 02/02/2024 11:35

My every day is Yorkshire Tea bags but Waitrose Ceylon Tea bags are a delicious alternative, lighter and fragrant.

Verv · 02/02/2024 11:35

Yorkshire

FOR THE EARL GREY DRINKERS strongly recommend Newby tea but the silken pyramids - comes in a white box
This one - but you must let it brew for about 5 minutes in the cup

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Newby-Teas-Silken-Pyramids-Black/dp/B01BKCY9SU/

I was an avowed Twinnings Earl Grey drinker but about two or three years ago they did something to their blend that really weakened the flavour. Even if you let it brew for 10 mins or something the Bergamot was very poor when previsouly had been strong.

I went on a quest to find a better one and tasted a lot of different brands. This was the winner by a long way. It's a fabulous tea and a great brand. not cheap (they've got an offer on Amazon at the moment ) but really worth it if you like tea.

@Sarvanga38 - totally agree about Twinings going down hil - it's really sad as it was a great tea and I had strong brand loyalty. Try Newby teas. their whole thing is about quality tea.

JulesJules · 02/02/2024 11:45

M&S Earl Grey. So much nicer than other supermarkets or Twinings etc. which just taste weak in comparison. I'll try the Newby tea recommended above though! Apart from that, Yorkshire Gold.

My current strong favourites are Yorkshire teas biscuit tea and their jam and toast tea. So nice.

I’ve never tried the jam one (it really doesn’t appeal!), but I can confirm that the biscuit one is amazing and quite addictive!

Aldi have just started doing their own range of biscuit teas - I bought the salted caramel one yesterday with high hopes, but it was a bit flavourless, sadly Sad

Thomsons Irish Breakfast Tea has replaced Yorkshire Gold for me, it's delicious!

Give Barry's a go. Game changer.

Goldenphoenix · 02/02/2024 21:07

Ooh I will, thanks!

Lorac23 · 02/02/2024 21:11

Yorkshire Gold
Ringtons
Barry's
Twinings Assam - bags or loose
Twinings Lemon and Ginger

It really does depend on your water though - if you're in a hard water area filter your water before boiling and use Yorkshire Tea for hard water

BobnLen · 02/02/2024 21:11

Tick Tock Rooibos

Iam4eels · 02/02/2024 21:12

Ringtons are the best (and they're the supplier for Fortnum & Mason, M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury's)

CheesecakeandCrackers · 02/02/2024 21:13

I have yorkshire tea bags, twinings Earl Grey (although this last few boxes don't taste the same) and twinings spicy chai. I'm going to try some of the m&s ones after this thread though!
