I hate bedsocks!

It’s freezing in my house tonight so I’ve dug out the bedsocks. I’ve told the dc to put theirs on but I’ve taken mine off as they are so uncomfortable!

I hate wearing socks or bed socks in bed. Hot water bottle for me.

Menopause puts an end to any of this. I'm so hot even thinking about wearing anything in bed gives me the rage. This weather is ok with me, I can finally cool down a bit 🤣👍

Alas so far perimenopause has not produced any hot flushes or temp improvement, I am still frozen solid. I’m half hoping it will come!

I slept in my oodie, some bottoms and thick socks last night. This is just too cold.

I always sleep in socks I think. Maybe not in the height of summer as it would look weird but I can't stand having toes out.

EffortlessDelegation · 18/01/2024 08:34

I can't bear socks in bed either, I wake up in the night boiling if I try it. Key for me is not letting my feet get cold before bed, so keeping my normal socks and slippers on till the very last minute before getting into bed, then they stay warm under the covers.

Last night it was -5 and I was in cosy joggers, vest, jumper, two pairs of socks, plus hot water bottle and cat on top! Lovely, the only problem is leaving the bed in the morning.

@MrsTwatInAHat

I'd have to be sleeping outside to cope with wearing all that.

Where was your woolly hat? Grin

MrsTwatInAHat · 18/01/2024 10:52

Oh no, hat would be overkill Grin

Also the cat regularly sits on my head.

I have a pair of ludicrously expensive cashmere bed socks from the White Company that my mum passed on to me.

Bed socks need to be light and not at all tight, warm but breathable. Not the big fluffy synthetic sort.

I can hardly feel mine when they are on, except for the incredible warmth.

And they are only suitable for in bed, not robust enough to walk about in.

Me too. I was in short sleeved top and thin pj trousers and enjoying that it was finally cool enough to be under the duvet and blanket all night without waking up hot and having to throw it off.

Shopaholic100 · 18/01/2024 11:20

Have you tried Primark fluffy socks? They’re great, keep your feet nice and warm, until you fall asleep then come off sometime during the night. I have really cold feet and just can’t sleep when my feet are cold.

BlackeyedSusan · 18/01/2024 11:25

Nestofwalnuts · 17/01/2024 22:54

How are they uncomfortable? They are really soft and fluffy and loose and warm. I love mine.

It's the looseness that I don't like as a hey move about when you turn over in bed, but easily solved with ordinary socks.

Ha I’m the exact same. DH is a ‘sleeps in pants’ sort and we usually have a small child or two sandwiched between us along with the obligatory cat! I usually sleep in a jumper even if our house feels warm 😅 I must be cold blooded! Although one time I fell asleep in my big oodie thick jumper dress thing over my pjs and honestly I think I woke up with heatstroke it was like when you wake up in a tent hungover at a festival being baked alive 😂

hazandduck · 18/01/2024 11:46

Also slight side note - it was so cold last night our milk actually froze on the doorstep!

I have these and on the odd night it's cold enough they are absolute bliss.

@DappledThings

I only have my birthday suit on in bed (lumpy bumpy thing it is now, I really need a new one!!), & I'm still kicking the duvet off. Only thing is, the cool air is making my calves cold (not the rest of me) and the cramp wakes me too.

id like to be a teenager again if anyone could sort that out!! Tia
