Really need a new perfume so I’m thinking of ordering a few samples to test things out. But I’m a bit overwhelmed and would like to know which of your perfumes you get the most compliments on?

People often commented on my J’Adore, but only when I was also wearing a lovely vanilla body spray that I used to find in Boots.

Sadly I have just used the last of my perfume, and was more than a little aghast at the price of a new bottle, so I’m mixing up some cheap stuff from Superdrug

If I don’t like this stuff, I will buy something inexpensive from Next and hope for the best

Just remembered I use to wear a perfume called Halloween, smells incredible haven't seen it in years. Simple bottle like a bell jar with a silver base and I can't remember if the glass was purple or the perfume. I loved that perfume so much.

That’s what I’m trying to do by buying samples. I just don’t know which ones to try. So I’m going to order some and try them out and find what I like and what suits me before committing to full size bottles

I did this between Christmas and New Year op. I've ordered some Coffrets - one from Jo Malone, and another from Celine.

The Celine one has arrived and I'm really enjoying trying new scents every day. So far I'm absolutely in love with "Nightclubbing" & "Reptile" both very different.

If you return to buy the full bottle of one of the coffret you get the price of the set refunded.

Another one for Clinique Aromatics Elixir - it's the only one I can smell on myself, lasts on clothing and other people comment on. It's quite a distinctive smell and I love it, gives me little shudders of pleasure when I first spray it on.

PuffinJilly · 14/01/2024 22:20

D'issey Miyake.
I once had a woman in a shop ask me what my perfume was because it smells gorgeous ( her words )
It's the only perfume I wear.

Lifeetc · 14/01/2024 22:20

Just found it on Amazon!

Which perfume do you get the most compliments on?
Crikeyalmighty · 14/01/2024 22:21

I've had several people stop me in shops or a bar when wearing Chloe Roses

KCandtheSunlightBand · 14/01/2024 22:21

Penhaligon Empressa and
Liz Earl No 15.

I get asked what they are all the time, but I have to say that sadly, I cannot smell the Liz Earl after the first half an hour, but obviously others can. I know it lingers on my clothes as I have that lovely aaah moment when I put on a scarf or jumper with it on.

WonderfulCheese · 14/01/2024 22:21

Penhaligon. I have a tester sized bottle.

Angrymum22 · 14/01/2024 22:22

Coco Chanel.
Men, young and old still complement me when I wear it, and I’m nearly 60.
I prefer the vintage formula but the modern version is nearly as good. I started wearing it in the 1980s in my 20s when Opium and Poison were popular. It was still a big hitter but it didn’t fill the room. It is a much more personal scent, enveloping the wearer rather than overwhelming the audience.

Filamumof9 · 14/01/2024 22:22

Paco Rabanne olympea Solar
Lolita lempicka
Marc Jacobs perfect
Narciso Rodriguez. Crystal

Aydel · 14/01/2024 22:22

Chanel Coromandel and No. 22
First by Van Cleef and Arpels
Pirate Queen by 4160 Tuesdays

Crikeyalmighty · 14/01/2024 22:22

@mamboshirt I loved that one too- had sort of a spicy vanilla smell

Filamumof9 · 14/01/2024 22:24

Van Cleef and arpels feerie was a hit as well as oriens from the same brand but both not available anymore

honeylulu · 14/01/2024 22:25

Beautiful by Estee Lauder.
It's similar to J'Adore and Daisy I think, both mentioned in this thread.
All very fresh floral scents. I don't think they suit everyone though. You are right OK to test some out and see what suits your skin chemistry.

TeenLifeMum · 14/01/2024 22:26

Jean Paul gaultier

channel no5 smells amazing on my mum but when I tried it it was totally different. Weird. Find one that suits you and makes you smile wearing it.

Jemimapuddleduk · 14/01/2024 22:32

Mon guerlain or black opium are the ones people have complimented.
I like both but shalimar is my favourite.

WithASpider · 14/01/2024 22:40

Tom Ford - Lost Cherry. I've had so many compliments!

Dior Hypnotic Poison. Genuinely have had people stop me and ask what I'm wearing.

Yes I have that one and I loveeeeee it. The only perfumes I’ve had are Hypnotic Poison, Pure Poison, and then Good Girl in the shoe bottle but for some reason that one smells disgusting on me even though it smells nice on other people

No votes for White Musk?!

AvocadosAreTheDevil · 14/01/2024 22:45

Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet or Prada Paradox. Prada is more my evening one, Miss Dior is my every day one. I only own two because they are the two I adore ,and often get compliments on!

Penhaligon. I have a tester sized bottle.

Penhaligon what? I've had several from them. Favourite being Quercus.

I only alternate between 2 perfumes, Chanel Allure and Jean Paul Galtier Classique and regularly get compliments on their scent.

Jean paul gaultier classic and insolence by guerlain both always get comments
