Period pants going a bit whiffy

Have had mine less than a year. High quality modi body ones. They dont have an odour straight out of the wash but do seem to have one within a few hours of wearing. Anyone else had this? How do i combat? Cant afford a new set every year!

My primark ones are three years old and don't smell. I wash at 30 degrees with Daz and dry them on the radiator (or outside in summer). Are you rinsing them until the water runs clear before washing them?

To be honest I’d have thought they would smell OP, unless you soak them and then put them on a very long boil wash- meaning not so environmentally friendly.

I don't know because I haven't used them, so maybe my opinion isn't welcome. But if they've had a years worth of service, and smell bad, isn't it time to just...,throw them away and get some more? That would be what I would do

Soak in white vinegar then wash with a bio detergent and dry inside out!

Soak them (yes I know you are not supposed to) in water and some white vinegar and wash as usual.

Never use fabric conditioner.
Rinse before use then wash using bio laundry detergent at 30c then make sure they dry quickly either on the washing line in summer or radiator rail in winter.

I'm still in the nappies stage with baby so I pop a scoop of baby's nappysan in with my period pants, no idea if you are supposed to do that but it seems to be ok so far. I have the body form ones.

I sometimes get this when they haven't dried quickly enough, hanging them inside out and with the thicker crotch part outwards on the clothes horse usually sorts it. Same as when jumpers go a bit musty after washing if they aren't dried right. You might need to soak in a bit of bicarb and /or white vinegar to get the smell out before next wash to reset the smell though.

So, i wear them. Take them off, rinse in copious amouts of cold water and then wash in non bio at 40 degrees. We dont use fabris conditioner. I have a dd with v sensitive skin.

Do i need to wash hotter and with bio washing stuff?

When I washed my daughters at high temperatures, they shrank a lot. They were not great at keeping the odour in either. I ended up binning them and trying M&S pants rather than other brands. I do soak them in white vinegar prior to washing by machine but they are ok, and not whiffy.

Running a strip wash on all of them, in a 60 or 90 degree wash, with just some non bio, then drying them outside should work.

But also do consider whether you need to change them more frequently, or reevaluate what you wash your vulva with.

I'm prone to flooding and am also large and can get proper meaty smells, which makes me want to vom. Staying on top of the right rinsing and washing routine for the pants, and personal hygiene, should do the trick. If it doesn't, get a gynae check up.

Bio powder, all blood stains come out with a cold soak in bio powder. Then I wash with napisan and a few drops of tea tree oil in the detergent drawer.

I've ruined mine washing in machine and tumble dying. They are supposed to be line dried. Have you accidentally dried in the tumbler? Btw I had midibodi ones too. They are no better than cheap ones from Amazon

Dettol laundry sanitizer is great. Kills the bacteria causing the funk! I use it for my sweaty gym gear as I find the tight fibres trap sweat/ bacteria and can smell funky if I'm not careful.

Definitely give them a soak in white vinegar (either after you’ve rinsed the blood out or when they’re out of the machine).

Modibodi recommend a cold wash in the machine and not to dry on the rad/tumble dry (for those who don’t use them)

This is exactly what I do and no issues. So, how are you drying them? Maybe it's taking too long to dry and they're actually giving off a musty smell?

I have a lot to process as I have 2 daughters - I rinse them in cold water as soon as used and then give them a rinse in the rinse cycle in the washing machine, then wash them as normal with a sprinkling of tea tree oil at 30c in biological powder and then I try to get them dry asap.
