Does anyone really look younger than their age?

Online on forums, social media, on dating profiles and even in real life people claim to look younger than their age, they are X age but don't look it. They get ID's in the supermarket buying wine.

I am always highly sceptical because I've know people who say to my face how they look like they are 25 when they are actually 38 because they have no lines or wrinkles when I am looking at them and thought they were actually in their 40's and they have obvious wrinkles and grey hair, people are delusional! Honestly the capacity people have to delude themselves about anything is quite staggering and I have never met someone who claims to look younger and it actually turn out to be true.

When I was younger I thought some older people looked younger so I once thought a woman when she was 49 was closer to 30 but that was because I assumed all people of 49 looked "old" which isn't the case at all and looking back she looked great but she also looked her age which is fine.

Going back to the first case where the women was convinced she looked over 10 years younger, what could I say I just said yeah you look great and its the same anytime anyone makes that claim. People aren't going to dispute it.

I would guess that blonde sister is 54 and brunette sister 56.

My mum - she's 76 and looks in her 60s. She never looked particularly younger until she was in her 60s but she has good skin and is very active.

I look older I think. Bad sleep/bad food/over weight and a bit drab. I have inherited the good skin but nothing else.

I think the blonde sister looks older btw. I'd say around 50 for both?

I am not “obsessing [sic]” with age, I am merely contributing to a thread where the topic is age. If I started talking about dinosaurs on this topic it would be peculiar because it’s about age, not dinosaurs.

I am extraordinarily comfortable with who I am. So much so that I don’t have to go around making silly accusations of touching nerves on a thread asking for personal experiences. ;-)

My husband looks incredibly young. He is mid 50 but could pass for.someone nearly 20 years younger. We were at a Xmas works party last week and his colleagues looked so much older but were actually the same age. He gets told all the time that he doesn't age.

I unfortunately look my age.

When I was in my late teens, and married, I couldn’t get served in a pub or get into an adult movie without someone being with me. On the other hand, My younger sister was always being challenged as to why she was asking for a child’s fare as she always looked older than she was. I am four years older than her and people are always surprised when I tell them my age. However, she looks older than me and is always upset when people say to her things like ‘I met your younger sister’.

Brunette sister 46. Blonde sister a well preserved 50.

My aunt looks late 30’s and is in her 50’s. Some people do look really young.

I look about 10 years younger than my actual age, always have done. It’s genetic from my mums side. If people guess my age it’s always about 10 years younger and most people seem quite chocked about it. A skin expert once told me that my skin is 10 years younger than my actual age

I think alot of people who think they look younger because they get asked for I.d don't realise it's not because we think they don't look old enough but that management have told us to ask anyone who looks under the age of 30 or 40. So I'd I I.d you and you're 29 ..no its not because I thought you looked 18 or under its because you look under 40 and our company isn't willing to get another £300,000 fine and staff are told we will be sacked. With companies deliberately getting people to test their staff, we don't risk it.

I'm very short and usually dress casually, and have long hair.
I have recently been id for buying alcohol but I assume this is because at a quick glance (from a few metres away) I might be mistaken for a young tween. I absolutely do not look under 18.
However lots of people have told me I look young for my age but I'd guess maybe 5 -8 years younger. (I'm 46)

When I had my covid jab the nurse asked me where my parent was as they thought I was a teenager. I’m 43! I have ASD and I know some women with ASD can look very young for their age but it’s definitely also genetic

I think, when asked to guess peoples age, most people guess younger than they think out of a fear of offending. It doesn't always mean they believe it.
I often have to establish if people are over 65 as they are entitled to a concessionary price and Im VERY careful how I word it. "I'm sure this doesn't apply but is anyone in the party over 65? You're 72? Really? Surely not, you look so young"
Result - customer gets discount and feels flattered, not angry.

Quite a lot of people are amazed when they find out I’m fifty. I’ve been told late 30s a fair bit.

I’ve seen women ten years older than me that look younger than me

My mum looks much younger than her age and always has done. She’s almost 60 now and easily looks only a little older than me , I’m almost 40. My sister gets regularly ID’d but I do not think she looks much younger than me, she’s 2 years younger.
I have looked older than I am since I was about 20 😂
i have been going grey since then whereas my mum has only just got a handful of grey hairs, and my sisters neither of them have any grey. I think it’s the grey hair that ages people the most.

DH is very good at guessing people's ages. He says most people pay too much attention to things like clothing, make up, hairstyles and fitness (including the impact of smoking and a bad diet) rather than looking at hands and facial features.

I think the older someone is, the younger they think younger people are. It's perspective. I'm 35 but older people think I'm late 20s or about 30. I look in the mirror and can see I look mature and won't let myself be deluded. I agree that there are a lot of deluded people out there, but if it makes them feel good about themselves that's great!

Brunette looks slightly younger IMO, around 47-50 and Blonde around 50-52 but hard to tell as the picture quality isn’t great.
