OP I think it's a good question - there is just so much to take in with the Gaza issue that I'd lost track of the West Bank. I'm off to Google now.

I've been wondering the same - I haven't heard anything about what, if anything, is happening in the West Bank at all.

Do a google map (satellite version) of the area and that tells you all you need to know.

Look at the UN and UNICEF websites.

The BBC are massively biased and most of the media in the UK is. If you want to know the truth you need to look at global sites.

The Palestinians are second class citizens throughout the West Bank. It can only go one way I'd think. They're heavily controlled, but I'd expect that to ease once Gaza is cleared.

Palestinians in the West Bank have reported that settlers have been firing at them….with the protection of the Israeli defence force. There are many videos coming out. It’s a very very dangerous time for Palestinians

I wonder where everyone expects the Palestinians to go. Neighbouring countries won't help them. Surely the Israelis don't plan to kill them all.

It looks like such a built up area. I can't help but feel if Israel continue down this path, Palestine are going to call upon reinforcements.

@Guesswho88 it's surrounded by farm land. There is no need to occupy this territory at all. It is greed and entitlement. Palestinian's also have human rights.

Not saying they don't. I'm worried the war is going to escalate because they're going to call for help against Israel.

51 Palestinians have been killed by IDF in the West Bank this week.

IDF are strictly controlling access to Al Aqsa Mosque. Young men have been banned from attending prayers there. I have seen footage of IDF firing guns in the area around the mosque compound but I was unable to see who or what they were firing at.

There is video footage of Israeli settlers firing at Palestian civilians.

Palestinians from Gaza who had permits to work in Israel had their employment terminated and were escorted to the West Bank unsure about what was happening to family in Gaza.

I believe Israeli army is entering with the intention of capturing the Gaza strip including the city. It will be an risky military operation with Israeli arms and troops heavily outnumbering Hamas resources and Hamas making full use of their underground network, which will likely be mined rather than entered by Israeli troops. The order to evacuate indicates that each individual building will be fought over and taken or razed with huge loss of life and suffering for everyone involved including the many civilians who are unable to leave. The result will likely be a rubble under uncertain Israel control. Hamas won't be wiped out but everything else will be.

That is my impression from the papers. I have no specialist knowledge.

It is a genocide and if this escalates the West are to blame as much as anyone else. I'm absolutely appalled that anyone can possibly defend what is happening to these civilians and their homes. Hamas are utterly disgusting and murderous, but it's not as though this is anything new and can't be brought under control another way. There is a cold determination behind these actions and they're not going to stop.

But it won't be a genocide if they fight back and get support from other countries.

I see escalation as the only route left open to the Palestinians if the world is going to stand idly by during their genocide.

I don't support this in anyway so no pile on please. I am not antisemitic in anyway or pro Hamas. I feel very bad for the civilians caught up in this conflict on both sides. However the Palestinians have no route to escape. Israelis are there by choice.

Fight back….like…with stones? Fight back how? Israel is backed by almost every country…. They have the most powerful weaponry. Gazans haven’t had water or food for days, they’re weak and injured. There’s no fight back and you know it.
