Has a spider ever climbed out from under your covers?

I’m 32 and it has just happened to me for the first time (that I know of) 😭 Just got into bed, husband is out for the night (so typical) and as I went to put my phone away I thought I saw something crawl across my shoulder out the corner of my eye. Convinced myself I was seeing things but shone the light back on to check and there it was 😩 Never moved so fast in my life! Our newborn is sleeping in the next to me but I had no choice but to put the light on, put my shoes on and get the hoover! I didn’t find it and now lying here feeling so creeped out. Tomorrow this room is getting turned upside down and every inch is getting hoovered 😭😭

Yes it's happened quite a few times, I live in a very spidery house. It'll be away by now doing spider stuff elsewhere and you'll never see it again so no manic cleaning required!

QueenCamilla · 14/10/2023 01:39

Yeah, one of those huge effers appeared on top of the sofa throw right where my feet were under. It made a very audible sound as I kicked it to the floor...
They are unaware of Mumsnet memo of avoiding humans and body heat. Nasty things.

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/10/2023 01:41

I can beat you. On the first night glamping, a spider is in my bed. I shake it out but don't kill it, sleep there for three night. On the fourth morning, it crawls out.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

Hadalifeonce · 14/10/2023 01:49

I took DD swimming when she was about 7, in the changing room after, I wrapped her in the towel, as I moved it off her head, there was an enormous spider on her head, it must have been in the towel. I am terrified of them, but I didn't want her to know, so I had to do a sort of playful flick with the towel, it fell to the floor, and she saw it. It's been a bit of a joke between us since.

EasterFlower · 14/10/2023 01:56

No but I did have to remove one from my pillow before I went to bed last week 🕸️🕷️

GFgd · 14/10/2023 04:22

My skin is crawling reading these 😩😩

Yes! I woke up at 2am and checked the time on my phone and from the light I saw ON MY PILLOW the biggest spider I've ever seen in my life. It was right next to me head 😭😭😭 there was nobody else in the house to deal with it either.

Nugg · 14/10/2023 04:42

It has literally a minute ago and earlier when I was laid on the sofa, my dog nearly face planted me because one crept up the side of the cushion over my shoulder and she wanted to grab it🤣

However, I was pretty much arachnophobic as a child and now I love them so it doesn't bother me

Mum2aTeen · 14/10/2023 04:47

Yeah, or woke up and one being on either of us very common here.
Spiders love the dark and stillness .
For us, it's usually a whitetail (which can make us very sick) or wolf spider (not venomous but scary nonetheless) or we get heaps of black/brown house spiders though if we get a huntsman the whole house is going up in flames 😄 even though they aren't dangerous/venomous they are scary as shit.

FairylightsandHygge · 14/10/2023 04:48

It's 4 am-ish and I am now wanting to switch the light on and check for spiders. Almost imagining one on my pillow! Aaaaghhh!

I don't mind the little spindly ones but the chunky ones freak me out, especially the ones that move like lightening!

User1002 · 14/10/2023 04:51

I live in Australia so get those really big huntsman spiders -harmless but they are still scary looking and big wit long legs.
On 3 seperate occasions, I had one under my pillow, one hiding in between my towel and one fall out from in between the toilet roll as i picked it up. Never moved so fast in my life.

chuffer15 · 14/10/2023 04:53

Yes! I went to the loo in the middle of the night and laid on my front when I got back into bed.
My hair was tickling my back but then it carried on further down my back... it was the biggest fattest spider I've ever seen, I couldn't sleep properly for weeks. God knows at what point it was in my hair, did it come to the toilet with me or was it waiting on my pillow!?

GoldenOldies · 14/10/2023 04:56

A few months ago, I rolled over in bed and noticed something running along the pillow. Nearly got sick when I realized it was a spider. I threw the entire pillow to the floor until the next morning 😂

spottedinthewilds · 14/10/2023 05:56

I had what I think was a huge spider crawl over my face the other night. I felt something crawl down over my forehead, I was wearing a sleep mask and went to push it away and it tried to crawl in under the mask. I was 70% asleep so didn't think any of it.

The next morning DH told he he had seen a massive spider crawl under our bed that evening but didn't tell me as it would have freaked me out.

MuffyRogers · 14/10/2023 06:02

No, but once I got into the car ( front passenger side ) put my seat belt on and waited for the driver.

While I waited I pulled the sun visor flap down to look in the mirror and the biggest spider I'd ever seen fell straight into my lap!

Squirrelsnut · 14/10/2023 06:17

I once scatched my chest in the night to find the tickle was a big spider.

NancyJoan · 14/10/2023 06:23

I can clearly remember waking up in the middle of the night when I was about 8 and seeing a large spider marching along the edge of the duvet about an inch from my nose. Thankfully I don’t mind them, but it still freaked me out.

Alighttouchonthetiller · 14/10/2023 06:56

I was reasonably put out recently* when I retired to bed and settled down to read. Opened my book and an enormous (although thankfully squashed flat) spider fell out onto me.

*When I say 'reasonably put out' you might want to substitute 'screaming the house down and leaping about, howling, and ripping my pyjamas off because 'IT'S ON ME!!!!!'

romdowa · 14/10/2023 06:59

I once hopped into bed and felt something on my leg, it was a massive spider just chilling in my bed. Now I keep the covers folded down until I get into bed 🤣

usernother · 14/10/2023 07:17

Yes. It didn't bother me at all.

Sorry, I know I shouldn't be laughing, but this is so funny! And exactly what I would be doing.

If my DH did that I'd be going nuclear on him🤣🤣🤣

That’s what creeps me out.. how many times must that have happened before and you’ve not known 😩

Never had one in my bed (so far!) but I've twice put on a dressing gown without realising a massive spider was on there. Cue frantically ripping it off when I've realised something was crawling up my arm!

Another time when I was driving I felt something tickling my hand, looked and saw a huge spider on it. Screamed and flicked it off but then had to search the entire car for it when I got home. There are a LOT of places for a spider to hide in a car.

this thought crosses my mind every time I pull it down, didn’t know it actually happened to people though 🙈😭
