My dogs ate raw egg -what do I do?

I was making scrambled egg and someone knocked at the door
Came back in and my dog was on the bench licking the bowl of raw egg
He's had a few licks of it
Now obviously I'm panicking
What do I do?
Try and make him sick ?
Can this kill him ?

My dogs are raw-fed. They often get a raw egg on their breakfast, shells and all. Raw Egg and a defrosted Sardine is Floppy Puppy's favourite breakfast. He won't eat the shell, though. The other two dogs do.

Well I did fancy an omelette but with all the talk of eating dog shit and vomit I've gone right off it.

My dogs gather when I'm making a cake because they know I will give them a raw egg.

If I have eggs past their best by date I usually mix them raw into their dog food.

Dogs are opportunist feeders. They would raid nests and eat raw eggs in the wild. Pretty sure they don’t scramble them.

Our Labradors once got into the utility room and between them ate 18 raw eggs. Shells and all.
The farts went on for days!

Every dog I've had has eaten shit. And eggs. I know which one has the potential to harm out of the two.

We regularly crack an egg (raw) over ddogs kibble, it's one of her favourites.

Raw cake mix is the best treat in this house. It's always a competition who licks the bowl out, or who makes it because you can have a few spoonfuls.

None of us have ever had salmonella.

I just know you don’t have a Labrador. They literally eat anything, raw egg is a blessing in comparison to the rotting fish on the beach, nappies etc they’d have a go at.

I think lab stomachs are built differently.

Our cocker used to love a full egg to play with! She would roll it about then pick it up and drop it to crack it, lick up the egg and crunch the shell.

She once at a whole chocolate kinder egg, wrapper toy and all... that did not pan out as well for her!
Although it was the toy that was the issue not the chocolate!

Absolutely. They are the most revolting of revolting eaters. Yesterday I had to wrestle a used tampon from our Labrador.

My best friend is a vet and she reckons tampons are only the Labrador’s second favourite snack requiring surgical removal- after used condoms 🤢

Mine ate 12 out of the egg basket shells and all. He was fine 🙄 i now hide the eggs!

OP do you have kids? If not have you yourself never licked the cake mixture bowl?!

I know someone whose dog ate three dozen eggs ( they kept chickens and she had the eggs stored in those cardboard trays, and the dog got into the larder). Apart from going around the downstairs rooms and puking in all of them, the dog was fine. Needless to say, it was a spaniel.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that dogs have a fairly sensitive puke trigger precisely because they eat everything they can get their stinky little paws on… so if in doubt, up it comes again 😖

Raw eggs will be fine, used to give my old spaniel one every so often for his coat. Haven’t dared try with the lab due to the toxic fart potential 😷
