Unfortunately the animals killed don’t just go on our plates, animal proteins are in all electronic items so probably the phone, laptop or iPad your using ( unless you use the one vegan mobile phone that has recently become available) it’s in metals that we use daily , some cleaning products, some DIY products and in cash that we use as a society!

But I do agree that his poor wife and family must be having a seriously difficult time at the moment, I hope they are all getting the help and assistance they need and I hope he rots in hell

I feel so sorry for his wife. I heard some bad stuff about my ex after we broke up that really unsettled me, but not any any way near as bad as this. Not even close. She must be going through hell now, I hope she has support.

Many people on here are extremely aware of animal welfare and food, it's desperately arrogant and smug to think only YOU are taking the moral high ground.
Many people are very aware of what goes on and don't use animal products.

We had a case recently here in Australia that was a Jewish woman teacher who abused three sisters who were students of hers - Malka Leifer - but that is so rare.

When someone is this sadistic there is nothing that can be done for them. A bullet in the back of the head would be the most just solution. And before anyone says that makes me as bad as him, I wouldn't have him raped, tortured and then killed slowly for personal entertainment, so, no, I am not as bad as him.

Well I made my comments yesterday, but seeing this on my “I’m On” brought a fresh wave of revulsion and sadness, but more than anything disbelief and incomprehension.

I'm not being goady- I genuinely don't know. Malka has been convicted of rape. In Australia (unlike the UK) this crime does not necessarily require a penis so Malka could indeed be a common or garden XX traditional cis cunty type woman.

Googling Malka's name with background, childhood, history, early life etc yields nothing so I am none the wiser.

It's hard to believe that his wife had no idea what he was up to, it happened on her land and in her home. The police found disturbing physical evidence of on their property, how could she have been oblivious? He was a lecturer at a university in Darwin, many people will have interacted with him. I bet there are dozens of people who have had a gut feeling about this reprehensible individual. I can't imagine he will live his best life in jail.

I don't think it's possible to have a gut feeling that your lecturer is a nonce who tortured animals. He probably seems like a normal man. He pretends to care about animals.

Ugh I felt sick then, totally disgusting and sadistic. Yes it does seem to be mostly men, is it the testosterone, power trip? Generally women are more nurturing and this type of bike crime is very rare among us I believe. There are of course females who are cruel, like the hopefully ended era of 'crush' when they stamped on animals in heels. If it wasn't for reports I would have no idea such monstrosity in humans could exist in the form of so called fun. No excuses for anyone who does these things, purely psychopathic.

Horrific article. I've definitely read news articles about bestiality where women were convicted, but it didn't involve torture and killing of the animals. I think something like this is on another level.

Always puzzles me though why they are so obsessed about filing and keeping records of the crime - so many criminals are caught by recording their own evidence against them. It always makes me think that there must be lots of this going on all over the world, but with people who just do it but don't document it, and nobody will ever know it even happened.

It's really strange about his wife. It's not just the number of animals arriving, but also the noise they must have made given what they went through. And then disposal. And smell. And a shipping container in the garden that was the torture room... it's bizarre that she knew nothing.
