Am I too old for a full sleeve tattoo?

I follow an amazing tattoo studio online , and have several tattoos already.

I've seen the MOST beautiful full sleeve design , very feminine, tasteful in black

I'd love to get it , though it is £400 a day and will take 4 days , but you definitely get what you pay for with tattoos

Thing is , I'm 51. My arms are toned and I have confidence that now it would look good , but I'm not sure how it would look in 20 years.

That said , I'm all for living for the day . Would you just say sod it and get it ?

Please, that said it's not a tattoo haters thread and I really don't need people saying they're hideous or a waste of money , this design is very artistic , feminine and beautiful and I love it. If I was 30 I wouldn't hesitate .

It's
Booked !!!!!

Good! 51 isn’t too old for anything and no one has to look perfect to have a tattoo.
The design you picked is wonderful.
Make sure you do update us with pictures!

I will . I've had to send the studio my arm and it's not bad considering my age . I have just seen I have freakishly long fingers

I've decided my arm isn't too saggy

Absolutely get it! No such thing as too old for tattoos. I’m late forties and won’t be stopping til I run out of skin

theduchessofspork · 20/09/2023 21:25

Nah.

I admit I am not a full sleeve fan, but what would put me off is it won’t look good when you get the old bingo wings.

bemorebernard · 20/09/2023 02:12

It speaks to me 😂

That's beautiful!

I'm going to get it extended to part of my back back and my chest .

@bemorebernard Congratulations on your booking. I am very much in the do as you wish corner. Be yourself and do what pleases you, no matter what others may think. I am 56 with piercings and not as many tattoos as I would like, but have some planned. It looks amazing 😁

ShitMermaid · 20/09/2023 21:33

The way I see it is if bingo wings look bad having a tattoo on them will make them look better not worse 🤷‍♀️

InterFactual · 20/09/2023 22:42

I genuinely thought the picture was a silver birch log. If you want to look like a tree then go for it I guess.

afterdropshock · 20/09/2023 22:42

If you can't do what you want in your 50s when can you? Who are you answering to? I'm not a fan of tattoos but the one you showed is lovely.

afterdropshock · 20/09/2023 22:44

You shouldn't have sent the studio your arm though. You might need it.

Letsgetouttahere2023 · 20/09/2023 22:45

Yuk

Jasperdale · 20/09/2023 22:45

Not too old at all. I despise tattoos personally I think they make the person appear rough so do be aware you may be judged. However your life and if it’s what you want bloody go for it life is too short!

ItstimeToMoveagain · 20/09/2023 22:47

It's lovely , personally I don't give a shit about how mine will look when my skin is wrinkle or I get bingo wings or if people judge me so I'd go for it

vipersnest1 · 20/09/2023 22:50

I'm in my late 50s. I already have three 'line work' tattoos, one for each of my DCs, and one for my DDad. In a few weeks, I will be adding to one of my tattoos to represent my DMum (to the original one for my DDad), and another one to represent my and my DMum's love of holidays abroad.

Feetupteashot · 20/09/2023 22:51

Go and look at some 70yo arms before you do this. And not just the ones who have their arms out.

Even with hrt skin changes a lot

headstone · 20/09/2023 22:52

you are not too old, but you have lovely arms so why ruin them?

Redhairblackheart · 20/09/2023 22:57

I have a full sleeve on one arm and ill likely do the other side too.

I say go for it.

I saw a lady in her mid 60s ish the other day with both arms done, she looked cool as fuck and even my colleague who has no tattoos said she looked cool!

Its normal now, widley accepted by most and if it doesnt hurt anyone, sod what anyone else thinks!

Sonolanona · 20/09/2023 23:05

Isn't getting a bit older so freeing Op? Grin
I always wanted piercings.. never had them (my Mum thought.. still does) that they were 'common'
So I got my nose pierced at 55 and I love it.
Life's too short to not do what you want when it's only affecting yourself.
Enjoy your tattoo!

😂 exactly what I was thinking

Zerrin13 · 20/09/2023 23:06

If you want it then go for it. Your body your choice. I dont get them though. Infact they are so common now that they are becoming abit old hat. Tattoos everywhere on everyone. I've also never confused femininity with tattoos

Shylo · 20/09/2023 23:08

I was just going to say I don’t see what age has to do with it - if you’d had it done in your 30s it’d still be on your arm in your 50s so what’s the difference doing it now or then?

glad you booked it :)

Fizbosshoes · 20/09/2023 23:09

I love the design.
DD wants a tattoo when she's 18 next year, and I said I'd go with her and get one at the same time hoping it would put her off but she says we could get matching ones 😃
