What small decision changed the course of your entire life?

Lighthearted.

Mines was just getting out of a relationship, being in my thirties and thinking I'd never ever meet anyone. I'd got used to the fact that I wouldn't likely have children, and be alone. And I was fine with that.

4 weeks after I ended my relationship, my friend asked if I wanted to be set up on a date with her friends friend. I was extremely reluctant.....

3 years later we have a toddler and a newborn and it was the best decision I have ever made in my entire life. I didn't think I would ever be this lucky. He treats me how I deserve to be treated, hands on, funny, respectful, romantic & the best role model for our children!

Intrigued to hear people's stories whilst my newborn sleeps away..... 🥹

When I was 22 I was offered 3 jobs in 3 different European countries. I chose number 2. Met my future DH the day after I flew in. He isn't from that country, or my country. 25 years later we live in a different country neither of us are connected to! With a trilingual DD and a dog with one lonely Braincell.

Going to the singles' dinner i was too afraid to go to and had already said I wasn't going. I gave myself a talking to and turned up. Met my late dh there. Actually from 12 people attending, there were 2 marriages from that evening which isn't bad, eh.

Good for you . I got out the relationship and I'm over 40 and single and won't have kids now.

It doesn't happen for everyone

I met a friend for a drink after work and was persuaded to be his plus one at a swanky industry party. I was dressed scruffily and exhausted from work and really didn’t want to go, but he strong armed me into it.

Lucky I did, as met my now DH. 22 years & 2 kids later, very happy 🥰

I applied for two jobs and decided to take the one I was offered first. Meant that I moved three hours away from the town I grew up in and my life changed massively as a result.

My lh sliding doors moment was stopping to chat to an acquaintance. 26 years later we’re still together, very happy. Best decision I ever made!

Casually pausing to look in a staff agency's window whilst walking down a street on the way back to the car park after a dentist's appointment. Saw something intriguing, and on the spur of the moment, walked in and asked about it. Got the job and it completely changed the direction of my life.

Mines similar to yours, forced to go to a friend's house party after a 10 hour shift on my feet. Tried to make my excuses not to come but was dragged there anyway. Met DH that night and 11 years later we're married with 2 children.

Never thought it would happen for me (years and years of low self esteem) so glad I got dragged along in the end!

People who are not in relationships are very unlikely to be championing this thread.

Well the first few have ended up focusing on relationships or jobs, but I’m sure people will have list of other good things…

like another for me; dipping my toes into the sea for my first cold water swim. Absolutely love it now and hoping to manage the full year!

Mines a work one too- had no idea what I wanted to do after graduating - applied for all sorts, had interviews for 2 very different jobs on consecutive days.

First job phoned to offer me the position that evening - I accepted and cancelled the second interview.

It's not just about relationships, didn't I state that? No? Mines just so happened to be about that.

If you're not happy, move on.

After years and years of low self esteem, anxiety, depression, I deserve to shout from the rooftops about my happiness

Did camp America and loved it. Wanted to go back the next year to do another summer, paid 2 out of 3 of the payments. Had a change of heart and decided not to go. Went on a girls holiday abroad with my friends instead and met my partner of 10 years on the second night :) if I'd done Camp America, I wouldn't have gone on that holiday and wouldnt have met him!

At 16 and before going into sixth form I decided to be a bit more outgoing. This was through fear really of being picked on. It was my zodiac that day that gave the push. Change your life or miss the boat forever!

Now I work with people all day and others see me as confident. I don’t care what people think of me in general anymore.

When i was 19, uni hadnt't worked out for me so I went to college. Had to pick between two courses, kind of a head and heart decision. Went with my heart. Three days in I met a man, fell head over heels in love with him and he's now my husband.

Good for you! I can resonate with this. Life is so much better when you decide to be 100% authentic and true to yourself.

I really hate tenpin bowling but was reluctantly persuaded to join my mates on a meet-up at the local bowling place on the understanding that we’d go to my favourite nightclub afterwards. I nearly backed out as I thought I couldn’t be bothered sitting around waiting for them to finish their game but I went in the end and then afterwards at the club I met my DP who I’ve been with nearly 30 years now.

Split up from my BF of 2 years, he was great but struggled with fighting to see his DD and his Dad's death. I had a DD of my own so had to focus on her.

He asked me to get back together, I said I'd think about it.

I went on a date, thinking nothing of it. He is the love of my life and we are married with 2 more children.

ExBF died of cancer last year, so very sad.

Giving tinder a chance 😂 First guy I spoke with and the only one I met up with we are now renovating a house together with a toddler and a dog and very very happy. Mushy I know 🙄
