Inspired by the whatever happened to Timotei thread I fancy getting a really lovely smelling shampoo (currently using Garnier coconut one) that doesn't have a designer price tag ...I'd love some ideas please

This stuff was delicious smelling, however I was stung my wasps really regularly when I used it, probably coincidence, but I was stung 3 times in 1 week.

A blast from the past. I used to love this one! Along with the body shops Ice blue shampoo or their banana and coconut ones.

I don't think any shampoo will ever beat the gorgeous almond smell of 1980s Vidal Sassoon for me.

Oh Lordy I loved that shampoo back it the day!

Garnier ultimate blends banana and coconut. I can't stand banana usually but love this shampoo!

Be warned- this absolutely wrecked my hair, and I ended up getting a good 6” chopped off.

It’s basically pure salt and dries and splits the hair massively. It’s like constantly being in the sea and never washing the salt water out of your hair.

I used to use this and ended up with a permanently sensitive scalp. Absolutely destroyed it and my hair😢I struggle to find anything that doesn't irritate it now.

Toddlerteaplease · 10/09/2023 13:11

L'Oréal kids watermelon shampoo.

whirlyhead · 10/09/2023 13:19

I had the Vidal Sassoon almond one up until about 5 years ago. I eked it out for years. Such a lovelly smell.

nowadays I really like how the Ouai ones smell. Very sophisticated. Aveda ones don’t smell of much to me, not even the cherry blossom one.

John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip. It came back a few years ago, now vanished again. Crazy prices on ebay.

My OG is the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi shampoo. Been using it since the 90's now I think.

Tesco used to do a dupe of that! I loved it so much.

MorrisZapp · 10/09/2023 13:46

Current fave is Kerastase Blonde Absolu, it's got a fresh, modern, almost grassy scent compared to the old fashioned heavy French perfume that much of the other ranges smell of.

Wish I'd known that at the time Grin

I LOVE Head and Shoulders 2 in 1 apple shampoo - the scent and what it does to your hair - leaves it really soft but with loads of body. people always say my hair smells nice when they give me a hug. Its scent is so fresh.

lij8793 · 10/09/2023 13:55

I use one called "Monday" - love the smell of it!

TribeD · 10/09/2023 13:57

Aveda Shampure is lovely, as is Paul Mitchell Awapuhi.

I've heard that L'Oréal Elvive is very similar to Kerastase (same company) so it might be worth a sniff to see if they are alike, and the formulation might be similar too.

Does anyone remember the old school pink Lee stafford one?
I used to practically snort it as a teen!

@cornflower21 ooh fructise! Where the fruc did that go?!

Yes. They've reformulated the heat protection spray and it's awful

dontgobaconmyheart · 10/09/2023 13:58

For me it's the OGX Kukui oil - I can't get enough of the smell. It smells like holidays; caramel-like, a bit tropical, sweet and heady. It's also a really nice shampoo and the smell definitely lingers.

My favourite conditioner based on smell alone is the Head and Shoulders Derma X Soothing Comfort one. I don't have concerns over dandruff and don't even usually like to use a condition but it just smells so nice and does a lovely job of detangling with no heavy greasy feeling.

Claysta · 10/09/2023 13:59

Honey and Oatmeal - think it’s catwalk, I get it from Amazon. Love the smell!

Yes! I loved that one too ♥️

Jux · 10/09/2023 14:31

Of current shampoos though, the Lush Daddio (?) - people know dd's nearby as the smell of palma violet is wafted ttowards them by gentle breezes!

yellowsmileyface · 10/09/2023 14:40

I recently got L'Oréal Elvive Extraordinary Oil because it was on offer and think I've found my new go to! It smells lovely and leaves my hair feeling so soft and silky. I got the one that's for "dry hair".

It was cheaper on just my look when I last bought it in fact I ordered double

L’Oréal Dream length shampoo (orange bottle) - lovely smell, and good shampoo. I use it when my hair is shorter as well.
