Just reading an article in the Daily Fail and it got me thinking, how can no one been brought to justice for this? Was she really about to report on a big pedophile ring within the BBC?

One of the theories is that she was killed in retaliation for NATO bombing a TV broadcasting studio in the former Yugoslavia but I have never bought that.

I do think it was a professional hit though.

There is something rather fishy about how her fiancé at the time was brought into the inner circle of Royal physicians and has never voiced anything about her murder campaigned for justice.

What a ridiculous thing to say.

As it happened he was the dr who did my hysterectomy.

He was an extremely well respected Sr doctor which I assume is why he went on the royal rota.
Not some ridiculous conspiracy theory.

Oh I absolutely do. The Serb government reacted to her murder. They released a comment. In the bombing, a famous female broadcaster was killed. Tit for tat.

I was listening to Nick Ross being interviewed by Piers Morgan recently and he said basically that he felt Barry George was indeed responsible for her death however his conviction didn’t stand due to legalities. He was absolutely sure the case was closed l, the killer had been found and due to BG having mental health issues he had no interest in feeling angry he was no longer in jail.

I’ve found the link to it.

Richard D. Hall did a good investigation on it and he thinks it's to do with the Brixton bombing campaign at the time.

Riverlee · 31/08/2023 21:58

I remember there was a programme discussing the various theories over her death. I think they concluded it was a Eastern European link, rather than paedophile ring etc.

Hadn't she also fronted an appeal related to the war out there?

I was working in the BBC newsroom ( menial role) when the story broke.

@SisterAgatha agreed, often he seems to say something that sounds truthful but he laces it with fantasy.

One of the most interesting podcasts I've ever listened too was ex beeb journo Anna brees on the james English podcast.

Plenty of people have tried to uncover their childhood abuse from the care system including a man who believes his younger down syndrome brother was murdered during a sexual attack on him during his childhood, but they often crusade to the point of seeming easy to discredit.

Journalist Sonia Poulton also has done a few YouTube docs, but she is apart of the David icke/shaun attwood brigade and I then struggle to take alot of it seriously as they're very ego focused as opposed to journalistic. (If that's a word!)

I think when we consider the back story to these horrific crimes against looked after children, nobody of those times expected the Internet and for a new wave of media to be available for those to want to expose these institutions.

I'd love truth and justice and legacy for those victims and I personally include Jill in that, however I think it's too easy to accuse people of being crazy/seeking money/and the power of abusers runs too deep.

There is still information on PIE and a few of Ted heaths alleged victims have all come forward with similar stories, to no avail.

These were the most vulnerable children in society and their treatment was worse than I've words for.

The Ted Heath stuff - now there’s something which would have benefited from social media and the presence of the internet. But it’s all too long ago now.

She wasn't some in-depth investigative reporter holding special exclusive knowledge of a paedophile ring, so no that isn't why she was killed. Not to say there aren't paedophile rings, or that I don't respect what she did or the impact her death had.

She wouldn't have needed to be an investigative reporter determined to blow the gaff on it. She seemed like a kind, trusting, popular woman, and she had friends and colleagues - one in particular stands out to me - whose dark secrets she could have easily given away (or clues to), quite accidentally, if people she happened to mention things to joined the dots.

Nick Ross wrote an interesting article about the murder - was mentioned in another recent thread:

Those saying oh she was just a tv presenter so wasn't likely that she was investigating something like a pedophile ring at the BBC - no she was a journalist first and foremost. If she had any such concerns she would undoubtedly have been investigating in her own time.

Also, totally agree with others about Ted Heath but unfortunately that's a ship that sailed away a long time ago.
