Autumn Decorations

savethegorgeousbees · 16/08/2023 16:00

My favourite season is autumn.
Not so much Halloween as the kids are older but autumn itself.

I have seen actual autumn house decorations rather than Halloween ones in the shops and was wondering if this is something that you do?

I have my eye on a lovely door wreath.

I don’t but I got married last autumn and had autumn themed decor so am planning on reusing some bits around the house this year.

If I had the spare cash I would 100% go for it on the autumn decorations.

It's my absolute favourite season and seeing all the bits and bobs in the shops is giving me the "feels" at the mo lol.

Yes!! Seeing loads more in shops this year. Just bought some nice bits in Asda. The Range and Matalan have some nice bedding etc in. 🎃🍁🍂🌰

VinEtFromage · 16/08/2023 16:40

I have a few little bits. I LOVE Autumn.

I'm keeping my eye out for some other nice bits, especially natural materials rather than plastic.

Spookyseasonmum · 16/08/2023 16:44

I purchased a beautiful autumn garland with lights on from Wilko yesterday and earlier this month did a large Hobbycraft order for their plush pumpkins. Also awaiting deliveries of pumpkin shaped cut crystals and maple leaf string lights. I am autumn obsessed, not so much Halloween although I do enjoy the spookiness for a day but I’m more a cosy autumn fan overall. Next have some lovely bits this year

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/08/2023 16:45

I absolutely do put up autumn decorations. I love to celebrate all seasons and have different things which I pull out for the relevant time. Too early for autumn just yet, but September is round the corner. Go for it

GigiAnnna · 16/08/2023 16:47

Primark had some nice things when I went in the other week. I got some mushroom or ornaments and candles and they had acorn shaped stuff. I got some pumpkin shaped candles in there last year. And TKMaxx always has some interesting pieces.

Myotis · 16/08/2023 16:51

We have a new front door which I want to celebrate with a lovely autumn wreath- the old door was so horrible I didn’t want to draw attention to it 🤣 How are people hanging door wreaths without putting holes in the door? This is what is putting me off otherwise I would LOVE one

Tiespin · 16/08/2023 16:52

I have an autumn wreath I put on the door each year, in burgundy, cream, green colours. I adapted an old Christmas one, stripped off the Christmas bits on it and added artificial flowers from the Range, it's lovely

YaWeeFurryBastard · 16/08/2023 16:52

We do it here! One of the best things about living in the UK IMO is the seasons and we live rurally so like to make the most of them in all their glory.

We tend to do autumn/Christmas/Easter with our decs.

OMGitsnotgood · 16/08/2023 16:57

I've never had Autumn decorations but am tempted by a reel I saw on FB: Autumn leaves 'papier mached' onto half a large ballon, balloon popped and removed then used as a bowl for an LED candle and string lights

I always decorated for autumn, I love it. Mostly with handmade bits and bobs but TK Maxx as others have said is usually good for autumny things

WizardinTraining · 16/08/2023 17:01

Very tempted this year - we made a wreath at Xmas and I'm thinking it wouldn't be hard to re-use the circle bit with some more Autumnal foliage and accessories.

Hedgesgalore · 16/08/2023 17:04

Not found a wreath that I like in the shops but I have other bits that I dot around the house. Mainly greenery then thread through lights.

Home bargains had mini plush pumpkins in various colours, went a bit mad and bought far too many a few to brighten the place up.

The house has a big square entrance hall so I tend to decorate that seasonally as its the place most people see. I dec out the main fireplace too, go completely overboard with it.

Have only just taken down my bunting from the coronation so all ready for autumn decs.

Caprisunny · 16/08/2023 17:07

Yes, I have different things for the living room for each season.

Mot decorated to the extent I would at Christmas. But different ornaments, throws, cushions, candles etc.

I am actually in the middle of decorating downstairs because I want a different feel for this autumn and Christmas.

daffodilandtulip · 16/08/2023 17:10

I have a wreath for all seasons on my internal front door! For autumn I have a garland on the fireplace and buy a few mini pumpkins from Aldi each year for the kitchen windowsill. Then add in a couple of Halloween lanterns for that week.

cocksstrideintheevening · 16/08/2023 17:12

I have a door wreath. I love
Autumn.

veryberrypericherry · 16/08/2023 17:12

I always decorate a little bit for Autumn, I have a small stash of homemade sock pumpkins, set of Next pumpkins, leaves and various bits. I also have autumn leaf lights somewhere.
I decorate my kitchen shelf with some bits and bobs and add foliage, autumn coloured dried flowers and maybe the odd candle. Then it's all ready to add a few Halloween goodies to. I've got some nice EB plates and Halloween mugs to add this year.

I also just painted my front door so it's definitely in need of a wreath. I am tempted by the one in Home Bargains which is a steal at £7.99 and will add some fresh foliage perhaps.

I have done this for the last ten years or so. Started with crafting bits when the DD's were little and gone from there. I have loads of stuff now. DS2 and I have made it a thing to do a sort of big autumn art project every year and it's been a nice way of bonding. I start mid September and then mid October add halloween bits.
I love Autumn and everything about it, the colours, the clothes, the food, the back to school feeling, Halloween and bonfire night. The bloody hygge I suppose for want of a less wanky term Grin. So I really enjoy trimming up for it.

It all comes down after Halloween ready for Christmas trimming beginning of December .

lastminutewednesday · 16/08/2023 17:21

To the pp that alas re hanging wreaths-inside a big command hook for mine and it's worked fine but my door is under a sort of open porch thing so doesn't get wet which might make a difference

lastminutewednesday · 16/08/2023 17:28

This was last years project Smile

I decorate for every season, and then add in decor for holidays. Autumn from September onwards but I do halloween for October only. The Range have a great selection of just autumn items, TKMaxx/Homesense more halloween but some good just autumn bits.

I spend a lot every year on it all, I'm slowly running out of space...
