Feeling a bit mopey after checking the bank balance-need to do something to cheer myself up!
What is your favourite quote from the bard?
My favourite is "To be an idiot full of sound and fury" but my most used is probably "One woe doth tread upon another's heel"

Better a witty fool than a foolish wit.

TeenDivided · 01/08/2023 19:05

Surprised not to have seen 'Once more unto the breach'

We (well I) do a lo of Macbeth randomly.

caringcarer · 01/08/2023 19:07

There are daggers in men's smiles. Another McBeth one.

Needhelp101 · 01/08/2023 19:08

To my son, sometimes at bedtime, "Goodnight sweet prince, and may flights of angels sing you to your rest"

Immediately followed by me snorting with laughter at the memory of Queenie in Blackadder saying gleefully, "Yes, I'm sure they will!"

Eyeroll from son... 😁

Though she be but little she is fierce.

One incapable of her own distress.

EauNeu · 01/08/2023 19:13

so obvious as well but

'et tu brute'

egowise · 01/08/2023 19:19

"... And though she be but little, she is fierce "

"And this same progeny of evils comes
From our debate, from our dissension;
We are their parents and original."

Chickoletta · 01/08/2023 19:26

‘Come what, come may, time and the hour run through the roughest day’.

From Macbeth.
Said frequently to myself and others facing a daunting day ahead.

Out damn spot, out I say!

Generally as the kids have white school shirts and seem to eat tomato based something every day. Never bloody comes off!

This is mine, but because we have a pet called Spots who's always somewhere he shouldn't be...

And this one

Favourite/ most used Shakespeare quote
Chickoletta · 01/08/2023 19:30

‘A star danced and under that was I born’.

Said by Beatrice in Much Ado about her own persistent good humour. Also true of my DD (10) who is the cheeriest soul I know. ❤️

spartanrunnergirl · 01/08/2023 17:56

Eternity was in our lips and eyes,
Bliss in our brow’s bent

  • Cleopatra, Antony and Cleopatra.

Swoon.

My favourite too- I did it for A level many moons ago. Also, as a pedantic English teacher, OP your quote is not accurate!

You know it’s about death not sleep?

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 01/08/2023 19:32

"Exit, pursued by a bear". Nothing will ever come close in stage directions...

Notellinganyone · 01/08/2023 19:33

@GiantPandaAttacks - me too. I know Macbeth pretty much by heart after 27 years!

Twiglets1 · 01/08/2023 19:33

"What fresh Hell is this?"

Chickoletta · 01/08/2023 19:34

You know it’s about death not sleep?

Yes, rather a dark speech for a little boy at bedtime…!

There are quite a few people that I would happily see exit pursued by bears, but sadly it never happens.
Same! 🤣 Gotta love a bit of King Lear

I thought ‘exit pursued by a bear’ was in The Winter’s Tale?

Thisgooddog · 01/08/2023 19:37

I use I was in blood stepped so far all the time. About really mundane things usually.

He's a massive teen and yes, we both know it's about death. Jeez.

RoyalImpatience · 01/08/2023 19:47

@MrsSamR

That's also one of my favourites
