Is there any biscuit better than a McVities digestive?

Possibly a rich tea. Or maybe a fruit shortcake.

Dark chocolate digestives are better. So are Malted Milk and Nice biscuits

Diversion · 28/06/2023 21:51

The only time I like digestives is if it has a nice ripe blue cheese on it. I am not normally a biscuit eater but prefer a custard cream or a chocolate digestive to a plain digestive.

Biscoff biscuits.

AdditionalCharacter · 28/06/2023 21:56

M&S pecan and toffee shortbread
chocolate hobnob

Mcvities Digestive Biscuits are absolutely disgusting.

They used to be absolutely delicious and I have eaten them since a young child. Unfortunately the taste is foul and I was so compelled to write to them. (About 10 years ago they changed the recipe and had/have palm oil as an ingredient amongst other things.
Awful and such a shame. My Mother and all her and my friends feel the same.
For those of you that haven't tasted them before, you are being robbed. They taste nothing like they should.
Absolutely ruined.

Fox's crunch creams 😋

Also partial to Garibaldi with the chewy currants yum yum

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2023 21:57

Abbey crunch creams

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2023 21:58

I also like the M&S Viennese ones, half shortbread and other half chocolate coated

The mcvities digestive is king

Too right. I used to buy own label ones, then I went to a meeting at McVitie's, where they of course had their own biscuits and I realised what a difference there is.

It's a close call between that and a Hobnob though. Not a chocolate Hobnob, just a normal one.

AlphaAlpha · 28/06/2023 22:00

Garibaldi.

SwirlyShirly · 28/06/2023 22:05

Can't stand hobnobs they feel greasy after you've had half a pack. I love a dark chocolate digestive but jammy dodgers are the king of biscuits in our house.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 28/06/2023 22:05

Lidls dark chocolate digestives. You get mire in a packet and (I think) they are bigger.
Garibaldis and nice biscuits are lovely too.

SwirlyShirly · 28/06/2023 22:06

Oooof and actually the chocolate digestives with a layer of chewie caramel 🤤

bellac11 · 28/06/2023 22:06

Hate digestives, they are like the health version of a biscuit, even though they're not

Im not a massive biscuit fan to be fair but from memory the better ones are
Rich tea
Garibaldi
Malted milk
Nice
Abby crunch
cheese parmentier

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 28/06/2023 22:10

with butter and cheese they are fine even quite nice but on their own there are only a few biscuits worse rich tea being definitely and always worse, custard creams are poor too, bourbons and jammie dodgers are not as good as they used to be, but most biscuits are better than digestives

SapatSea · 28/06/2023 22:11

A proper shortbread finger made with just butter, sugar, flour and salt. McV's and all digestives are just horrid with palm oil and a nasty after taste these days.
A Flakemeal biscuit is also lovely.

ThreeRingCircus · 28/06/2023 22:12

It's a hard pass from me unless the digestive is topped with a really runny blue cheese.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/06/2023 22:15

The only biscuit worth eating is an M&S dark chocolate ginger one.

morelippy · 28/06/2023 22:18

I just love a McV digestive and am a massive cheese and biscuit fan... but a digestive is just too sweet.

A layer of proper butter and some decent raspberry jam however....

I had a digestive biscuit (not mcvities sadly but pretension doves farm ones) with some truffle cheddar earlier. It was a very superior snack.

RampantIvy · 28/06/2023 22:23

Any Ringtons or Borders biscuits.
Walkers shortbread.

ginghamstarfish · 28/06/2023 22:24

Lidl all butter ginger biscuits ... heavenly.

LolaSmiles · 28/06/2023 22:25

Almost any other biscuit except Garibaldi or fig rolls, unless the digestive is being used as a cracker for cheese.

Rockbird · 28/06/2023 22:25

Happy Faces. It has made my year that they're back!

Frosty1000 · 28/06/2023 22:27

Used to love mcvities choc digestive but since buying Lidl own ones I will never go back. Highly recommend, on and their ginger nuts are the best as well.

Also love those butter oblong biscuits with a big chunk of chocolate on them - plain ones only. No idea what they're called but ♥️♥️♥️
