I feel they've been a bit off recently

I have four letters from one word. I have the last three letters in place. The other letter is meant to be in the first place. One of the letters is N, so you know which word I'm dealing with. I am absolutely buggered if I can work out what the word is though! If anybody can tell me the second letter of the word, I would be so grateful. It's been driving me crazy, as I have used up all the letters on the keyboard, trying to guess and it keeps saying there's no such word, which I knew anyway!
