Talk to me about Vinted like I'm an idiot

I realise I'm a bit behind the curve - have a few items up for sale on Vinted. I've just accepted a lower offer on something I had for sale and then...radio silence. What happens next? Are they meant to pay or do I need to do something?

Once they've paid (assuming they still want the item) you'll get a notification prompting you to post it - then you'll be able to click to generate your shipping label.

Floofydawg · 16/05/2023 09:29

Thanks.... And if they don't pay, and someone else offers, is it fair game for whoever pays first to get the item?

Exactly this. Just send it to the first person who pays for it.

Circleoffifths · 16/05/2023 09:34

I used to reserve the item if someone had made an offer which I had accepted. But I don’t any more as too many buyers were doing that and then I’d never hear from them again.

Jitterybugs · 16/05/2023 09:43

I’m also new to Vinted. Posted my first item a few weeks ago. Accepted an offer and waited and nothing else happened. So presumably they must have changed their mind? In meantime I’ve had Vinted emails saying someone has “favourited” my item. 4 different folk in total. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to contact them and ask if they’re interested or wait and see if they make an offer.

Floofydawg · 16/05/2023 09:44

Cool, thanks all.

@Jitterybugs I've had loads of people favouriting and then hear nothing.

OP posts:
Circleoffifths · 16/05/2023 09:48

I don’t contact people who have favourited. If I am desperate to get rid of the item then I may drop the price if lots of people have favourited. They all get a notification then I think as usually someone swoops in and buys it if the price is dropped a bit.

Good tip thanks. I might try that

Ive just joined Vinted and i think its bloody brilliant! Ive always sold on Ebay, but find this so much easier. Ive made a fair few pennies so far. Good luck OP.

CornishGem1975 · 16/05/2023 10:12

When I have favourited items, occasionally people have sent me 'offers' at a lower price.

yellowsmileyface · 16/05/2023 11:29

I keep meaning to start selling on vinted. Is it possible to do this without a printer?

FunkyMonks · 16/05/2023 11:35

Yes I've been using Vinted go into settings then you can click on postage so you can get rid of Royal Mail and ones that require you to print labels.
I just have Evri yodel and inpost lockers all of which give you a digital QR code so you can print labels at the drop off shops so easy.
Don't use Royal Mail as you still have to pay for postage the buyer does pay for it but if you are selling something that's heavy or bigger you could lose out on money.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 16/05/2023 12:13

EVERY time I've accepted an offer it never converts to a sale. EVER

They are a waste of time. Getting bits together so you can weigh them for postage. And never to hear from that buyer again

Just my experience, obv

yellowsmileyface · 16/05/2023 13:16

@FunkyMonks thank you! That's very helpful.

TokyoSushi · 16/05/2023 13:19

I bloomin love Vinted, both to buy and sell! I have my first offer & ghost the other day, very annoying as I'd packaged it up and then realised they hadn't actually bought it!

I'm running short of 'stock' at the moment though so have lots of bits on for £3 or so which is less exciting!

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 16/05/2023 13:22

I’ve become Vinted addicted this week too 😍 already sold lots of baby clothes and bought a few things.
I just get people sending things like ‘£11’ in my inbox - no hello or context or anything. I assume they’re offering me a lower price. The lack of chat riles me though 😄

I have someone who has ‘reserved’ 2 of my items but is now in ‘holiday mode’ and hasn’t paid yet, so not sure what to do about that! Are they unavailable to other buyers at the mo?

SilentParrot · 16/05/2023 13:30

I asked someone a few days ago if they’d accept a lower item on an offer (first time doing this). I didn’t receive any notification so assumed they didn’t want to. But have just gone into my inbox and see they have actually accepted it.

So maybe some people aren’t seeing that offers are being accepted?

I am just dipping my toe in to Vinted selling this week (have bought some stuff) and had one buyer make an offer and ask me to reserve the item. I couldn't even see how to do it, so that was a non-starter, but she has just officially bought the item but asked me to hold off posting it for a few days as she's away.

Am now trying to work out how long I can get away with not printing label or actually sending on its way without having the sale cancelled.😆She tells me posting on Saturday will be fine, hopefully so ...

wherethecityis · 16/05/2023 13:33

@Sarvanga38 You should get 5 days to download the postage label. But I had an order cancelled after 4 days because I apparently hadn't sent in time (this was Vinted automatically cancelling, not the buyer cancelling). After you download the label you have another 5 days I think so just make sure you don't download the label too early.
If you're posting to a parcelshop, the buyer has 10 days to collect as well

Sarvanga38 · 16/05/2023 13:37

Thank you - she has asked me to post on Saturday as she's not back till next Friday, so I'll print label on Thursday, post early on Saturday and hope for the best!

For the seller, postage goes by box size though, not weight.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 16/05/2023 18:58

I realise that but I do Yodel and there is still a weight restriction , starts at 500g and under I think

My point was I'm still taking time to see what cost will be to buyer so it's irritating Grin

bakebeans · 16/05/2023 19:02

I've put quite a few items on vinted and only sold one item. I wouldn't mind but some has been high end quality unused stuff which I haven't even had offers for.
for context, I've tried selling a pair of once worn converse half price, a pair of boys brand new with labels Nike shorts. Brand new Havania sliders not worn. All no offers. I must be doing something wrong.

Floofydawg · 16/05/2023 09:45

@Jitterybugs I've had loads of people favouriting and then hear nothing.

I favourite things for different reasons - I might like but don't like enough to buy immediately, style inspiration, or because I like it and favourite it to help it be featured in 'popular' and sell quickly for the seller.
