Talk to me about Vinted like I'm an idiot

I realise I'm a bit behind the curve - have a few items up for sale on Vinted. I've just accepted a lower offer on something I had for sale and then...radio silence. What happens next? Are they meant to pay or do I need to do something?

I think the key to vinted is to price really cheaply. It's annoying if you think the item is worth lots more and in that case I would try a different selling site.

I have things on there and just gradually drop the price until they sell. I do put them out of the way in a different room so I don't have to get irritated by them though!

Whilst this is annoying and I get irritated by people offering peanuts for something I think is decent, it works both ways and as a buyer I can pick up bargains. Although irritatingly whenever I want something in particular I can never find it super cheap!

On the whole though i like the site and have made a small amount of money which goes straight back into vinted as my children always seem to require new things!!

I favourite items when I am "shopping" and then go back and make my purchase of one particular item. So I may not intend to purchase that item at all, it's more of a marker for me. Annoying as a seller though!

I've put quite a few items on vinted and only sold one item. I wouldn't mind but some has been high end quality unused stuff which I haven't even had offers for.
for context, I've tried selling a pair of once worn converse half price, a pair of boys brand new with labels Nike shorts. Brand new Havania sliders not worn. All no offers. I must be doing something wrong.

I think you need to price stuff pretty cheaply. If it hasn't had much interest then have a quick search on there for exactly the same type of item (for example Converse) and see how much other people are selling for - that will tell you if you've overpriced. I always go quite low as I prefer to get stuff sold and receive the money.

If you accept an offer and they don’t pay by the next morning, just send a polite message asking if they would still like the item. I never seem to get a notification for an offer being accepted but I always get a notification for a plain message.

I use the favourite / heart button like window shopping and it’s wild how different sellers will respond. Like I will hand my phone to DS when he’s looking for new things to read ans tell him to fave the books on his wish list, so then I can go to those and see if there are any potential bundles, sellers with good reviews, postage options that I like. Say he faves 15 copies of the same book, and I’ll get 2 sellers offering a small discount, 2 sellers sending a message that they also have other books / if I’m looking for xyz they have that but haven’t listed it yet, and I’ll get 2 sellers saying ‘so do you want this or what?’ The rest won’t say anything and that’s fine too. Just do not be those last two sellers because it’s so jarring! Either say something nice or don’t say anything at all kinda works here, I think!

I will certainly fave items I don’t intend to buy that day, but might be waiting to have funds hit my Vinted balance from selling, or waiting for pay day, or waiting to see if the seller drops their price.

Marking an item as favourite means very little, and I don't usually take any action when someone favourites my items.

To me, it looks like most people are only willing to pay jumble sale prices for an item of clothing, no matter what the label. Nearly everything I've sold has been around £5 or less, and anything £10 or more is still there.

Expect CF offers even if something is priced £3, there will be someone trying to get it for £1.20.

I have found Vinted good for decluttering, bit not necessarily ideal for raising significant funds.

That worked - thankyou. I sent a message and they paid. You'd think they'd get a notification if you accept an offer.

The first item I bought has arrived and it smells of smoke 🙃🙃🙃 at least Ive sold some things to make up the cost 🙄

skyeisthelimit · 17/05/2023 15:33

If they reserve and then don't pay, I send them a message asking if they want the item or I will cancel the reservation. I usually give them 24 hours.

I had one recently who selected loads of bits, total came to £12, we boxed it up to check weight, then never heard from them again. Time waster. Why ask in the first place? It was obvious from the items that it was going to be a large parcel.

Favouriting doesn't mean a lot. I favourite stuff myself in case it is still around when I have money in my account. However, if you reduce the price on an item, then people will get a message, so it can help that way.

I have made well over £600 over the past couple of years by selling clothes, books, toiletries, jewellery on vinted. I mainly sell cheap and cheerful to get rid of it, but do sell better items at higher prices.

Love selling on vinted, it’s so much better than eBay. Used to be a regular eBay seller but got majorly fucked over by seller fees and back in the day, PayPal fees too plus the fact postage came out of your own pocket initially. I love the fact it’s all included on Vinted so there’s no nasty fees and the buyer buys a shipping label.

I find vinted hard to navigate in the help section.
I have 2 questions:

  1. How do I log in? I cannot find the log in button they talk about in the help section.
  2. how can I view the items I have listed for sale?

Totally frustrated by the lack of simple help from Help Section as I keep going round in never ending circles.
