I bet I can win for the worst start to bank holiday Monday

Trying to recover from a hideous start to our bank holiday Monday.

Child discovered they had lost an item in the park they were at yesterday. Tracked it and searched at 11pm. No luck and dark so decided to go first thing thus morning. Head there at 6am with the dog, child still in bed but me and partner thought it was worth tracking the route and trying to get it to ping/play sound.

We were there about and hour and spread out, dog off lead. Partner rushes into a bush, presume for a wee. Comes out and shouts he needs to go home. Shout dog who has now wondered into the same buses. Takes ages to recall (probably a minute or two but felt ages!) I’m quite a bit away and dog comes running over, covered in runny poo all over their face!!!!!! Turns out partner had an incident and clearly the dog who has a habit of investigating poo has eaten/rubbed themselves in it.

I am aware it can be dangerous and keeping an eye on the dog but WTAF! Had to remove clothes to wipe dog, use wet wipes, drove home, bath dog, partner undressed at the back door which luckily leads into a utility room so clothes straight in the wash then I clean everywhere. I am scarred for life.

anyone else had a disaster?

Oh no 😯 Your day can only get better 😘

I was woken up at 5:30am by my newborn projectile vomiting onto me from her next to me crib. I thought that was certain to win reading your title but I think yours trumps it. Envy

Blood and feathers all over the kitchen. Then had to find and dispose of the corpse.

Live mouse hunt at 5am, thank you cat.

Yours sounds worse.

40thmonarch · 08/05/2023 09:17

😂

Bankholnightmare · 08/05/2023 09:27

What is it with families and animals? I also have showered and cleaned but cannot get rid of the smell from my nose. I know that’s in my head but still. I’m lay in bed hoping things can only get better.

I’m not sure I will even want to touch my partner or dog again either!

Came down to find dishwasher still full of dirty washing-up because I'd forgotten to press the start button last night. I was livid. Your posts have all put it into perspective. Sorry for your appaling start to the day OP & others. Mine seems quite good now.

mynewname25 · 08/05/2023 09:35

Bankholnightmare · 08/05/2023 10:04

Well on the upside the Apple Watch has been handed in. Dog sulking as I hosed her and bath her but she doesn’t get I am sulking with her. Oblivious. On Rightmove looking at houses dreaming of living alone in peace.

Oh dear, it sounds funny from here but I get in real life it must have been...smelly...poo clings to things, can't get anything clean.

dig135 · 08/05/2023 10:07

It's a tough one to beat. P

But I offer up being burgled a couple of days before Christmas (we weren't away, just out for dinner). Came back to find all of my jewellery gone plus every present under my tree bar one.

Then got covid (I think from the police officer) and missed most of the Christmas and NY events as I was isolating.

Highdaysandholidays1 · 08/05/2023 10:17

@dig135 that's terrible!

Explainitplease · 08/05/2023 10:19

Did you find the missing item though?

Novel idea, but you could try reading the OP's updates.

@Bankholnightmare what a terrible start to the day! Still there's a solid chance it'll get better from there!!

you need things that smell & taste nice. Go out, by yourself, for a nice brunch!! & buy some nice fragrant flowers! (&/or perfume!!)

Eggsley · 08/05/2023 10:27

DH is like a bear with a sore head this morning, grumpy at everyone and expects me to sort everything out. DS1 is rude, refusing to get out of bed, won't do homework. DS2 is whinging and generally being horrible. We've got a get-together at the neighbours later so need to go to the shops, DH and DS1 are refusing to come to the shops or the get-together. I'm tempted to go on my own and leave them to it.

Extremely grateful that there hasn't been poo or vomit involved though! Sending sympathetic vibes to those who need them FlowersGin

RudsyFarmer · 08/05/2023 10:29

But did you find the lost item?!!

Arniesleftleg · 08/05/2023 10:31

Yep. Last BH weekend, my son had covid for the 4th time so we couldn't go anywhere or do anything. This weekend is my turn. We were supposed to go out Friday night but I started to feel crap, negative test but decided to call it off just in case as we were going to friends. Tested positive on Saturday morning, third time for me, so couldn't go to the Coronation celebrations we had planned with our group of friends. Now sat in bed feeling very sorry for myself and have had to cancel work tomorrow so no earnings! Arghhh. To be honest though, I'd take this over a shitty faced dog 🤣

40thmonarch · 08/05/2023 10:32

@Bankholnightmare I don't blame you this would take me some times to get over as well.

Can you everything be bathed and washed in dettol

Sheepsheepeverywhere · 08/05/2023 10:39

Police woke us up to arrest my dp for assault one Easter Monday.. Apparently exh had described him to a T to police. Shaved head. Beard. 30's...
Assaulted him with water bombs the policeman said trying to keep a straight face..
Then teen ds enters the kitchen to fess up he had been aiming at his db and hit ex by mistake..
Spotty teen ds with floppy hair. And a foot under the height of dp..
Exh was indeed the laugh of the station that day. And the police stayed for a cuppa!
Wasting police time he should have been charged imo.

Seven7seven · 08/05/2023 10:50

Mine started with dh waking me at 2am with what he described as an electric shock to the face. He was in agony, his wisdom tooth had broken while eating a mars bar. Managed to find an emergency dentist and did a 80 mile round trip to the next city and paid 250£ to have it removed. He's grumpy but no longer in what he describes as the worst pain of his life!

CalpolDependant · 08/05/2023 11:02

Ah… bank holiday.

My entire family have noro. At 8am, my 8yo screamed and begged me not to leave him as he sat on the loo with a bucket on his lap. I didn’t leave him. But I did then poo my own pants. I wasn’t able to change them until I’d changed my 10mo though. Fortunately, my 11yo is old enough now to strip her own bed after she vomits into it.

God save my carpets. 👑

Oh my you poor thing - you win the thread but I know that's no consolation!

Beamur · 08/05/2023 11:10

You win. Plus poor Calpol and family 💐
My two poos in the cat litter and a dead mouse in the kitchen are just normal everyday stuff.

icebearforpresident · 08/05/2023 11:11

There was me thinking discovering the roof is leaking during torrential rain was a shit bank holiday.

WhatWeDoInTheShadow · 08/05/2023 11:15

Oh jeez some of these are awful.

I'm not in the best of moods but at least nobody is boaking / crapping themselves here (and yes we have been there not too long ago and it was horrible, so sympathies). Also the assault report one I was 😲 at!
