Is anyone else watching alone and fancying a thread to chat about the coverage?

Meant to put a comma after bbc, 😜

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 09:27

Where's best to watch? I'm not yet but I'll put in on at some point I imagine.

There doesn't seem to be much to choose between Sky, ITV and BBC. They seem equally hit and miss and annoying.

Very unfortunate timing for Dame Tanni

The weather is a shame, I wonder why they chose May.

I suspect any later and the bank holiday would have caused issues with GCSEs/ A levels.

In 1953 the Coronation was in June but the weather was hideously cold and wet... always a risk in this country!

Did anyone catch who the choir were?

Think it was the first choir on this page of the order of service

BBC are now showing the marching band coming down the Mall. Police in the background in their white gloves look good too.

Anyone else think Hugh Edwards voice is different? He sounds like he's got a lisp but he doesn't usually. Has he been ill do we know?
Wouldn't we usually see him on screen occasionally too? I've not seen him so far, apart from the thing pre filmed with Welby.

medianewbie · 06/05/2023 09:30

Also home alone so it's nice to be able to join in here, thank you x

HaroldeVwilliam · 06/05/2023 09:31

Thank goodness I was getting panicky searching for one 🤣.

I'm flicking between itv, sky, bbc.

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 09:32

(I've started on the snacks too early).

I like that pale blue dress.

I do like The Planets by Holst.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 06/05/2023 09:34

The Royal Family channel on Youtube is showing the guests now but there's no commentary so I haven't a clue who anyone is.

Ugh, can't stand Justin Welby.

I had a chuckle at that @CoronationWombleSandwiches
My late husband couldn't abide him either. He reminds me of the vicar from Wallace & Gromit - harmless & ineffectual.

HaroldeVwilliam · 06/05/2023 09:35

I've only seen one stunning outfits so far. A pale pink with hat.

ShakeYourFeathers · 06/05/2023 09:35

Is that Penny Mordant just arriving??

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 09:35

I do like The Planets by Holst. Me too, the music has been very good.

(I'm another who isn't keen on Welby at all).

OP posts:
HaroldeVwilliam · 06/05/2023 09:35

Same.

Justin Welby... Urgh.

(You really can't get away with picking your nose can you? There are cameras everywhere).

Do any of your partner's act like mine ?
When I'm wanting to watch he will give a constant comments , it's all shit, rubbish , why is so and so there , these royals are just the same as you or me, should be happening blah blah blah . I'm glad why he leaves the room in a flounce !

Probably why he was chosen!

Casuaala · 06/05/2023 09:37

I always think that the Southern Hemisphere give much better outfits.

OP posts:
SisterMaryLoquacious · 06/05/2023 09:37

What's not to like about Welby? He's always seemed very interesting and sensible to me (although my heart will always belong to Rowan Williams)

PerkingFaintly · 06/05/2023 09:37

Oh of course, this part of The Planets gets used as "I vow to thee, my country."
Perfect.
