Have you ever won a big prize? I never won more than 30 pounds and I dont know anyone who has won either.. do you know anyone? I always wondered what people feel when they have won a big prize and how do they spend their money..

I would like to buy a 4 bedroom house, 2 flats for the children and travelling to California to visit my SIL.

Won £50 once.
I’d make sure dc and dgc were provided for, help friends to be comfortable in old age, put aside some money to travel then give the rest away to various charities. I have the list ready.

GeraltsBathtub · 04/05/2023 01:07

The most I’ve won is £5! But I don’t enter consistently. If I won a significant amount the first thing I’d do is go travelling - currently fantasising about 6-12 months going round all (the safe bits) of Africa. Then when I got home I’d buy a detached house with a big garden and get the kitchen custom made and someone in to build some raised beds.

TomatoSandwiches · 04/05/2023 01:10

I won 1k on a scratch card I bought instead of a loterry ticket, the machine wasn't working so that was nice but no nothing big.

I'd buy my own little cottage with a veggie garden and enough room for some cats and dogs and make fabulous food for family and friends on my aga.

I won £2,000 a few years ago.

I won £2,000 a few years ago.

I would love to win 2K. Was it a lucky dip or did you choose the numbers?

I know someone who won just under £4million years ago.

SgtCatherineCawood · 04/05/2023 13:27

Outing to anyone who knows me but I don't say anything of interest for anyone who searches for me 🤣

We won £2,109 in March 2009 for matching 5 numbers. It was the year we got married and just before my mums 60th. We claimed at a post office counter then walked across the shop to the other counter to pay it straight into our wedding account! So we never really saw it! But we used the £109 to buy everyone's meal when we went out for mums 60th a few weeks later

Do you know if they were bombarded by people asking for money? I always wonder this

No, they didn’t go public and did a good job of covering up the scale of the windfall for a decent amount of time, only close friends and family were aware.

Danikm151 · 04/05/2023 17:16

I won £800 once(jackpot rolldown)
I got myself a tumble dryer and the rest went towards baby stuff as I was pregnant.

LakeTiticaca · 04/05/2023 18:36

OH once won 700 quid 😁

Zingy123 · 04/05/2023 19:29

My Dad won £2500 about 10 years ago. He did a perm of 8 numbers with his friend. He got 5 numbers and then various other smaller prizes.

LucyLucyAppleJuice · 04/05/2023 19:31

DH won £2k on the lottery a few years back. Really handy as we were saving for a house deposit at the time.

I got a £2.50 and reinvested it in lotto tickets. Unsuccessfully. Should've blown it on a Mars bar.

TokyoSushi · 23/05/2023 18:21

£96 here, I was delighted!

Zoflorabore · 23/05/2023 18:22

Our old next door neighbours won £1.9 million about 24 years ago ( it was the week before my 21st so I remember) and it caused them no end of problems within their family over who got what etc.

They moved to a much posher area and we’ve seen them a handful of times over the years and they set their dc (2 of them) up with their own businesses and all doing well.

There was a similar thread on here a few months ago and one poster told how they won a huge lotto amount iirc it was around 12/14 million 😱

Truestorypeeps · 23/05/2023 18:22

I've won £73 and €50. I know someone who got bought a scratch card for their birthday and won €5000. They were only after just coming home from a holiday abroad as well 😆

Luna02 · 01/07/2023 19:43

I’ve won £140 with 4 numbers correct and smaller prizes of £10 and lucky dips. Finger crossed for tonight’s draw

Roselilly36 · 01/07/2023 20:13

No big wins here, either. We do have a lottery winner as a neighbour though.

Snugglemonkey · 01/07/2023 21:01

I won £79. I know someone who won £1 million pn the millionaire's raffle.

I would buy a house with a pool and plan amazing holidays. I would alsobsort out my family and friends.

PaigeMatthews · 01/07/2023 21:09

My biggest win was just over £100.

id set my children up and start a business to account for new spending and keep it very, very quiet. If i told my mum id won anything. my sister would be moving in with me the day after.

GnomeDePlume · 01/07/2023 21:35

I won £1400 on the postcode lottery just before Christmas. Thankfully nobody rang the doorbell to tell us, it just came through the post.

Tzimi · 19/09/2023 09:44

I have won £77.70 over the space of a month (2 lots of £30 plus 3 lots of £5 plus £2.70). This was useful as I could plough the money back into buying more tickets without spending anything.

ShazzaF · 19/09/2023 09:45

I know someone who won just under £20K, they used it for a house deposit.

I won a tenner once...
