Where can I go between 8pm-10pm tonight?

Need to be out of the house. No friends are free. Totally skint so cinema not an option and all shops seen to be shut so can't potter around them.

Happy to just go for a walk but don't really want to be out alone after dark.

Any ideas please?

Go and nurse a half pint of lemonade in a pub ( take a book)

Summerslimtime · 01/05/2023 18:07

A walk until 9, then an hour in the pub.

TheChosenTwo · 01/05/2023 18:08

I’d go for a walk (I like walking in the dark!) but failing that could you go for a drive?
Are you near enough to a beach to go there and talk a walk along the seafront? There will probably be people around…
Are you a member of a gym that might be open?

Haveallthesongsbeenwritten · 01/05/2023 18:08

Why do you need to be out of the house??

TokyoSushi · 01/05/2023 18:11

Also wondering why? But maybe walk for an hour and then just sit in the car with a book?

determinedtomakethiswork · 01/05/2023 18:12

Are you okay?

AbbyGal · 01/05/2023 18:12

Pub no good cos trying to avoid the football - huge Everton fan and the game tonight is so massive I can't actually watch it and need to distract myself (and yes, I know how bonkers I sound!)

Thank you to concerned posters - didn't want to worry anyone, sorry.

OP! 🤣

BendingSpoons · 01/05/2023 18:13

A large McDonald's you could probably sit unnoticed or buy something cheap.
A gym if you were a member.
A large train station.
Your car.
Free places will be tricky, as libraries etc will presumably be shut.

PermanentTemporary · 01/05/2023 18:14

I hate to say it but there are pubs without tvs... lime and side usually the cheapest drink

PermanentTemporary · 01/05/2023 18:14

Lime and soda

Silvergoldandglitter · 01/05/2023 18:15

I know the feeling! I'm an Arsenal fan

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 01/05/2023 18:15

Do you have a coffee drive through near you or at the nearest services?

I'd happily go get a big Tim Hortons or Starbucks coffee and sit and drink it in the car with a book and some music.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/05/2023 18:16

Any where you go you risk people mentioning the football so just stay home and don't put the telly on.
If you can't manage that, I doubt you're going to manage not looking on your phone etc. so might as well watch it.

Could you find a pub where there's likely to be other supporters so whatever happens you have support?

Could you not just go to bed early or is someone else in the house watching it? You could go and nap in the car on the drive.

AbbyGal · 01/05/2023 18:49

Rest of the family are watching so will know exactly what's happening.
I'm fine when we're at the match but I can't take the pressure when it's on the telly 😂

Find a large 4/5 star hotel with free parking on site (or nearby) and sit in the lounge with a pot of tea.

Good grief, just go upstairs, put headphones on and read a book. No need to go wandering the streets at night just to try and avoid a football match.

museumum · 01/05/2023 18:56

Go for a swim? Our leisure centre closes at 9:30 but you could drive home veeeery slowly.

brawhen · 01/05/2023 19:00

When I have to do this kind of thing (Parent Taxi situations...) I take great pleasure in going to the Big Sainsburys, having a wander inside - I grocery shop online 99% of the time so the real thing is always full of surprises. I buy a couple of bits & pieces, a snack, or maybe nothing. Then I sit in the car scrolling Internet twaddle and eat the snack and an hour or two are passed in a jiffy 😂

LobsterBiscuit · 01/05/2023 19:09

It's a bank holiday. Won't Sainsburys and similar be closed?

Everton are fucked OP. Just accept it and settle in for the disappointment.

Summerslimtime · 01/05/2023 19:12

It's gonna have to be a McDonald's drive thru. Phone off and a book and a stroll.

LobsterBiscuit · 01/05/2023 19:17

If the OP can't afford the cinema then she can't afford McDonald's and the pub! Just get yourself into bed with some earplugs if you really can't watch
