I've just had my second coffee, I've stripped the beds and put a wash on. My plan is to give the house a good clean this morning, might take dd to the park this afternoon. DH is working.
Then later it's sorting uniforms etc for school for youngest dd and stuff for work for me then tv and an early night.
What are you up to today?

Husband left at midday for the airport as he is working in Germany for a week.

My friend came round as we are planning a long weekend away to Krakow🥳🎉. I'm excited because I didn't think I'd manage a childfree city break while our DD16m was young but here we are!

About to wake her up from her nap and pop to the play area down the street for a whirl on the roundabout etc

U2HasTheEdge · 01/05/2023 15:10

Some of my children and grandchild have gone out. The others are in their room being quiet. That means I have done nothing but relax on the sofa. I have been reading, crocheting and looking at MN, in total peace.

I have a sore throat and am feeling a bit shitty. My husband is cooking one of my favourite meals which I'll have with some wine (may not be a great idea when feeling a bit ill).

My peace will likely be interrupted pretty soon though.

DD lives abroad and will be visiting shortly for a whole week, with both her children! One is 3,5 and the other nearly 7 months. So what I have been doing is arranging the guestroom, beds for everyone, high chair, toys, diapers etc.etc. Planning meals, too! DS and his family with DGS aged 5,5 will join in the fun most of the week, so full-house really. Tomorrow I'll do a big foodshop, wednesday is picking up DGS from school and then driving him to his gymclass etc, then starting in the evening full-family-time is on! I'm so very very very happy ❣️

TweedPillow · 01/05/2023 16:21

I bought a dress for my sisters wedding. I bought a previous one but DS said I looked like Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games! I returned that one today. Everyone loves the one I have bought now.

Went for a walk round the park with DH. DS and his GF made sushi for lunch. Quick tidy up, DH is mowing lawn. I’m on here with half an eye on tv. Hoping to eat dinner in the garden. Watching a film later.

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 01/05/2023 16:24

Working. I'm self employed so it is my choice. I'll take a day off another time when it will be quieter everywhere.

Moonshine60 · 01/05/2023 16:40

Well I was hoping to have a pamper session, had ordered a Next box for my Birthday. Unfortunately, but not unusually, Evri aka Hermes screwed up and it has been lost in transit. Having a relaxing day anyway.

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 01/05/2023 16:56

@U2HasTheEdge I'm pretty sure wine is very good for sore throats.

I had intended to be all productive and healthy; and I have managed a few bits, but I am also on tenterhooks for an upcoming interview so sort of in limbo. Planning a lazy dinner and veg-out on the sofa, trying not to obsess over the possible questions, legislation I have to try to remember, etc.

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 01/05/2023 16:56

Wine may well be involved, too....

Oh wow thank you so much. That’s really helpful! We don’t seem to have many cats around and the baby bird is really well hidden in amongst the flowers so fingers crossed they’ll be okay and fly off when they’re ready! 🤞🤞

I have a blackbird nest at the end of my patio. I have one of those arches with planters each side. I have honeysuckle growing out of one of the planters and the nest is in there just above the arch.
My patio seems to be a thoroughfare for cats. They jump over my Nextdoor neighbours wall walk across my patio and jump over my other neighbours garden wall.
I am on pins in case one of the little ones fall out and is eaten by them.
I look several times a day to make sure they they haven’t fallen but I’m afraid if they fall out at night that would be the end of them as I’m obviously not around.
well done op that you’re helping this little one.

Had a lay in then weeded the garden,dh mowed and and strimmed the law.
Went off and got a key cut and bought some heart shaped hanging topiary for either side of the front door

Chilled one today. Had a busy weekend and kids are with their grandparents today so thought I'd start the boys on prime. It's actually really good 👍🏼

Oblomov23 · 01/05/2023 17:29

On holiday in Portugal. My mum offered for us 4 to use her timeshare. It's been fabulous.

AllotmentTime · 01/05/2023 18:20

@lucysmam good luck for your appointment. Hope it goes well 💐

sgtmajormum · 01/05/2023 19:13

Got up at 7.30am, took darling dog for a walk, put a wash on, fed dog, had my own breakfast, mowed the lawn, cleaned all of downstairs as it was a cesspit.
Messaged DS1 to come home from his friends so he could get to football tournament, woke up DS2 who could sleep all day if left to it, made lunch, took DS1 to football tournament, got home, Darling dog wants a walk again, get back help DS2 make dinner, sit in garden for 10 mins peace with a cuppa in the sun, back to chores, hang out washing that I had forgotten about, feed darling dog, get work stuff ready for tomorrow, collapse in heap

We walked the dogs and then went to a classic car festival. Not usually our thing, but it made a change and actually was very interesting. Amazed how small the original mini was (and I used to have one!)
Then we tidied the garage and took some cardboard to the tip.
Then daughter called round for a cuppa and a chat
lovely day all told

Bibbitybobbitty · 01/05/2023 20:09

Spent all weekend decorating DDs room while she's away. DS both studying for exams. DH busy with other jobs around house/garden. Inset day tomorrow which will be spent putting DDs room back before she gets home at 10pm.
I will not be doing anything over coronation weekend though except relaxing with family & a large glass of wine!

Talia99 · 01/05/2023 20:26

I’ve spent all day doing prep work for a work related course I’m doing this week. I still haven’t finished and will have to do a couple of hours after work tomorrow.

amoretti · 01/05/2023 20:32

I've been at work

Blankspace35 · 01/05/2023 20:40

Dh was at work 5am-7pm
i went for a walk with the kids and did some washing, then we came home and made chocolate dipped strawberries

SquigglePigs · 01/05/2023 20:55

We had a super chilled out morning (arguably a bit too much screen time for the 4 yr old) but we've had such a busy rest of the weekend away with family that we all needed it. Then we went out for lunch then had a potter around a garden centre, fed the fish and had a drink in the cafe. Then a bit more chill time in the afternoon including DD enjoying an hour+ long bath that she enjoyed! Now watching TV with a glass of wine!

IGiveUpalready · 01/05/2023 23:33

Had a nice morning, decided to do some spring cleaning after lunch, hubby decided to do a bit of DIY. Found the exact height the picture needed to be - removed the nail already drilled, and unleased the entire contents of our newly installed heating system! so for the 3rd Tuesday in a row, I have no heating or showering ability :D Bad news is that my TV may be buggered (underneath the new hole) and due to the electricity going off for the 4/5 time this week we may have a freezer crisis as it isn't going below Minus 4. Good news is that the kids act quickly in a crisis and can now locate the stop cock and fuse board, shop was open so we could get supplies for a temporary fix and I managed to snag a nice coffee before we went home to no water.

In a nutshell, I've had better!

piesforever · 02/05/2023 18:59

Drinks with school mums, work, 90s disco, walk in the countryside. I recommend!

Isthisasgoodasitis · 03/05/2023 21:42

I've been married a few years now and have spent the whole time so far moving, no sooner as I’m unpacked and making friends he’s off again, last time I wanted to stay out while he enjoyed his jaunt but was monumentally shut down on that idea he’s now decided that we’re staying put here and once established he will take on the trade director position…. There’s only one problem…. I absolutely hate it here!! I can not connect to anyone locally feel totally isolated I’ve voiced my feelings but have been met with stony silence if it’s not work related it’s not up for discussion and I’m left doing everything around the house including diy by myself, he on the other hand is building his dream role I feel totally used like he should have had a house keeper not tricked me into marriage to ignore me, I never experienced happily married environments before so can gauge if this is normal or reasonable of it I’m being silly wanting out …..
