I've just had my second coffee, I've stripped the beds and put a wash on. My plan is to give the house a good clean this morning, might take dd to the park this afternoon. DH is working.
Then later it's sorting uniforms etc for school for youngest dd and stuff for work for me then tv and an early night.
What are you up to today?

@Xrays baby blackbirds (and many other birds) can’t initially fly when they leave the nest. They look for ground cover while their parents still feed them. Over the next few days they strengthen their wings and eventually take flight. This is when they’re most vulnerable to cat attacks (next doors cat I’m looking at you!) Lots of people make the assumption that these youngsters are injured in some way, or have left the nest too soon and will often try and capture and take to rescue.

It’s lovely that you’re giving this little one a chance, my DS also loves birds and sounds just like yours!. Hopefully he or she will stay safe and take flight soon 🥰

Oh wow thank you so much. That’s really helpful! We don’t seem to have many cats around and the baby bird is really well hidden in amongst the flowers so fingers crossed they’ll be okay and fly off when they’re ready! 🤞🤞

At work. Fed up already.

It’s my birthday! Being spoilt this morning, then need to drop my sister and nieces at the station. Entertaining MIL this afternoon, then DH and the 3 grown up children are taking me over to Liverpool for dinner and cocktails ❤️

Happy birthday! 💐

Lazy morning Dh currently making pancakes and coffee for us.
Then heading to a country park near us with kids scooters and meeting family for a coffee and cakes.
later it I will listen to a podcast I love about films while I do the ironing and sort out weeks clothes and bags etc.

APurpleSquirrel · 01/05/2023 10:23

We've had a long weekend at Bluestone (Fri-Mon as kids had an INSET day on Fri). We've packed the car up, now having a rest whilst DC run round the soft play. Will have lunch, then head home.

Daylighteyes · 01/05/2023 10:26

@Xrays you’re very welcome. Baby blackbirds and robins are the cutest!

We have blackbirds queuing up here as they know we have live mealworms (usually reserved for the robin) So at this time of year we help them out. They often fly away with a full beak of worms to take to their youngsters.

Costing me a small fortune! 😆

Willmafrockfit · 01/05/2023 10:31

i mowed the lawn yesterday but dont rake up the grass as i know there are blackbirds and a starling yesterday, that frequent the lawn.

Whyarewehardofthinking · 01/05/2023 10:32

Marking A level mock exams. Some students wanted to do another round of them so I've needed this weekend to mark a full class set. It was GCSE last weekend and another paper for A level Chemistry next weekend.

I cannot wait for exams to be over!

So far I've washed up, dropped DS2 at the train station in nearest village so he can go out with mates to a May Day event, dropped DS1 to bus stop in nearest town (opposite direction!) so he can go out with his GF to a different town. Helped DD make her breakfast (left her frying a sandwich, came home to find she'd managed that with no catastrophes), made myself the same when I got back from taxi service (tuna melt, yum) and a second coffee and am now browsing MN.

Hoping DH will mow the front lawn and cook a chili for dinner (he's still asleep). I have a mountain of laundry to fold but I also have cramping from having a coil fitted last week, so probably a lazy rest of the day for me (apart from taxi service duty again later). Have a book to read. DD was going to meet her friend in the park, but if not will be doing her own thing in her room as usual.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 01/05/2023 10:45

Covid finally got me (mildly) so I spent most of the weekend in bed asleep. Today it's do some shopping and get some food in. Apart from that, nuffin.

gingercat02 · 01/05/2023 10:54

Not long up. First coffee almost done.
DH watching MOTD, I'm on here, teen still in bed.
After breakfast, quick hoover round and then a little bit of gardening. Meeting friends for drinks mid afternoon and then lazy tea and a bit of telly before work tomorrow.

Phos · 01/05/2023 11:02

My DH suggested we go to a particularly nice, large park about 45 mins away. This morning he's announce he's going to invite his parents and has essentially uninvited me under the guise of a day to myself. I wanted to go to the park tbh.

declutteringonedayatatime · 01/05/2023 11:08

I am tutoring one student today for GCSE exams so am planning for that.

Once I am back, I hope to catch up with some laundry and then DH & I can go out to a music quiz with friends for a couple of hours.

HaroldeVwilliam · 01/05/2023 12:16

It's raining here so trying to get boring jobs done so I can relax next bank holiday.
I've stripped dc beds and put two loads of washing on.
About to start a small paint job. Try and get my self ready for work tomorrow.
Hopefully out for dinner later.

FawnFrenchieMum · 01/05/2023 12:18

Digging out my DD10’s bed room AGAIN and going through all her clothes to see what no longer fits or she no longer wears.

grafittiartist · 01/05/2023 12:18

Chips at the seaside!

Ringmaster27 · 01/05/2023 12:20

We were super busy Saturday and Sunday - went to an arts and crafts fair, went out for a nice Sunday lunch, spent a few hours in the playground.
Been playing catch up this morning with house jobs, big food shop, laundry etc. Going to have a quick lunch, then go for a mooch round the local nature reserve with some friends.
It’s been nice to have some real quality time with DCs, as they spend most weekends with ExH ☹️

ZeroFucksGivenToday · 01/05/2023 12:27

Still in pjs! DD in oodie watching TV/playing on her iPad.

ive sorted out and paid for holiday insurance for summer, helped DD do her homework for Weds and I think that's probably it. Her school is on strike tomorrow so I've booked tickets to a place for a day out with her and a friend. Today is just chilling out and maybe some tidying up later :)

Cupofteaaa5 · 01/05/2023 12:28

Not much really! DP and I went to visit friends yesterday and it was 5 hours total in the car so we're both a bit knackered today. He is currently doing a couple of DIY jobs that need sorting, I'm putting some washing on. Might read my book. I think we might go for a walk together later if the weather stays dry. Then dinner and TV on the sofa and early night ready for work tomorrow.

CoodleMoodle · 01/05/2023 12:40

DD9 and I did the food shop this morning. There was a pigeon loose in Lidl which DD found utterly hilarious. We left DS4 with DH, they played some board games and a bit of Minecraft. DS had about a million meltdowns when we got back, despite being fine for DH. Seems okay now.

They're currently eating lunch and watching Numberblocks. No homework to do this weekend, so that's good. After lunch we're making DH's birthday cake and then maybe heading up to the park for a bit.

Chicken kievs for dinner, I think.

JimnJoyce · 01/05/2023 13:42

waiting for my sofa to be collected and my new one to be delivered. Moving furniture around to enable this. I have a hip that needs replacing and its killing me!

weegiemum · 01/05/2023 13:54

Feeling a bit meh, was up in the night with <ahem> loose bowels.

Dh is working, dd2 (only dc left at home) is flopping around also feeling unwell. Think I'll go and sit in the sun in the garden. If that doesn't help, I'll lie on the sofa!

MyMachineAndMe · 01/05/2023 13:55

Sitting with the radio on, cup of tea in my hand, watching the washing blow about on the line. Totally rock n' roll 🤟

princessspotify · 01/05/2023 14:07

I've just finished a uni assignment. I've got one more to go. All needs to be completed by May 9th.
Dh and Ds10 are having a tidy up and sorting out clothes and toys for the charity shop. Not sure how well it's going. Ds13 has gone to a friends house to escape helping said tidy up.
It will be sausages and mash for dinner and an early night tonight.
