Staycation - what have I forgotten to pack?

Myself, DH and Ddog are off on a staycation on Monday for 4 nights. We are staying in a self catering lodge with a hot tub. We plan on eating breakfast every day and dinner one night in the lodge and have bought the food for that.

I am almost packed but please give me suggestions of something I may have forgotten?

Corkscrew, flip flops, condiments, sharp knife, paracetamol 😁

FijiSea · 29/04/2023 16:03

Scourer
dish towel
bleach wipes
fairy liquid
binbags
condiments
I take my own tea bags and sugar just pop into a little sandwich bag enough for a few days.
flip flops or sliders for hot tub access

Tartanpup · 29/04/2023 16:06

Thanks @Fartooold @FijiSea some good suggestions there. I hadn’t thought of a couple (flip flops and tea towels) so I’m glad I posted

Also , One thing I really wish I took for our hot tub break last month was my dressing gown !
It was really chilly in the evenings walking to and from the hot tub.
They provided large towels and I just wrapped up that but with I’d taken my waffle robe.

Extra towel for the hot tub
Flip flops/dressing gown
Loo roll

Tartanpup · 29/04/2023 16:15

Dressing gown is packed, thanks! They do provide robes for the hot tub but bringing my own so I can make sure I’ve always got a dry one to hand

Assuming you have a phone with you, have you got the charger?

IggyAce · 29/04/2023 16:26

Dish washer tablets if the lodge has one, if not washing up liquid and sponge. Sharp knife and tea towel have already been mentioned. Chopping board, we once stayed somewhere that didn’t have one!
Pegs.

Small first aid kits for you and the dog

MyBloodyMaryneedsmoreTabasco · 29/04/2023 16:35

Cling film. Salt and pepper.

emmathedilemma · 29/04/2023 17:13

Depending on where you’re going in the uk……hat, scarf and gloves because it’s freezing up here!
tea bags, coffee
wine
matches if it has a wood burner or bbq you might use

mbosnz · 29/04/2023 17:24

Marigolds.
Candles.
A throw or two.

reluctantbrit · 29/04/2023 17:36

Sharp knife/knives

A blanket or two

Seeingadistance · 29/04/2023 17:42

Nothing as you’ll have everything you need in your own home.

Seriously, why the need for a cutesy and patronising word for holidaying in your own country?

Stripycatz · 29/04/2023 17:43

You're going on a holiday, not a staycation. But I hope you have a lovely time 😊

Why the need for a patronising response on a perfectly harmless thread @Seeingadistance

Antihistamines

Wine

Greenfree · 29/04/2023 18:51

Your frying pan, I've stayed in some nice lodges and holiday homes but they never have good frying pans!

regenerista · 29/04/2023 18:58

Dog treats/a few toys/poo bags

Motheranddaughter · 29/04/2023 19:01

It is a daft word as I automatically think the person is staying at home and doing day trips and then confuse me by saying they're going away for 4 nights!

pfftt · 29/04/2023 19:07

I didn't think the response was patronising. I also use 'staycation' to mean staying at home

I would have thought the opposite, and would be confused if someone was staying at home and doing day trips! It’s only really since covid I’ve used it I suppose.

Thanks for all the suggestions. There’s a few things I missed off the packing list so will get them packed

Completely agree. Staycation means staying at home. It's a holiday OP. Hope you have fun. You can wing it if you've forgotten anything.

Extension cord. There’s never enough plug sockets or if there are they’re never where you need em!
