If you work part time- what is your household income?

Talking to a friend who is a teacher about if she would return to work after having a baby. She's earns under £30k and hubby earns less.
I've always worked fully time because I'm a single mother of twins but am wondering if I could have gone part time if I hadn't panicked.

We both work part time ish -I'm a teacher on 0.5 and earn about £22000, my DH is self employed and works the equivalent of 4 days a week in term time, more in the holidays, earning about £25000.

We have two disabled children so no after school care etc so could not both work full time.

I work part time, 20 hours pw and earn £1600 after tax. My dh earns £4,500 - £5,000 pcm after tax. I need to work and I needed to increase my hours recently. We are supporting a dc through university and the rest of our money goes on mortgage, bills, food, a couple of nights out per month, one 10 year old car, occasional clothes from M&S and similar and one European holiday per year.

I’m 30k for 31 hours dh 40k for 38 hours we’re doing ok but 2 years of ft nursery fees have taken their toll

I’m a part time teacher earning around £25k and DH is on £27k. We’ve made it work!

Teach 4 days a week and net pay is around £2300 a month.

I don't see how knowing the income of a random household would help this. Surly it is dependent on your outgoings and individual costs.

I an currently on mat leave but before I worked 4 days a week and earned 72.5k. DH is on 85k. We will have 3 in nursery from Sept, so (very) high outgoings!

I have a health condition so I work part-time (3 days). Current salary is about 28K and I get some additional income from self-employment/freelance stuff that probably bring it to 32K a year.

I work 4 days pw on 57k, DH is on just shy of 100k full-time.

I work 3 days per week and earn £42k and DH works full time on £50k. So £92k combined income which is good enough for our lifestyle which includes nursery, mortgage, 2 cars, decent spending money each per month and a couple of holidays a year.

When we had our first, DH was on 12k a year and I was a sahm. It's all relative.

It depends on your outgoings, where you live etc.

Around £65-70k but it's irrelevant if you have different outgoings.

I work p/t 3 days a week for about 25k plus earn about 2k extra ish in self employed work. DP earns about the same for f/t. I can't work anymore due to my health issues. No kids tho so less outgoings although I would work (a bit) more if I could as still trying to buy own home.

I do 22.2 hours and earn 13,600 a year. It’s crap but it’s a very flexible job. Dh os on about 60k. I left teaching were I was nearly on the top pay grade and don’t regret it.

I earn £13000PA
My best friend earns £37000PA

We have the similar disposable income each month. It’s all dependent on lifestyle, bills, rent/mortgage etc

I work 2 days a week. £9k annually.
DH is on 92.5k
Our children are at school but we've never paid for childcare because I've always found a job around parenting.

I work one day a week and one saturday a month - 11k annually
DH earns 60k
3 DC (8,3 and 1). Youngest two are in nursery 1.5 and 2 days a week respectively

I work part time as a support worker cicra £14000. Partner works full time £28000.

Last tax year I was at £62K for a 4 day week. DH is on £120K on average.

DD and I would survive on my salary alone and I know one colleague who is a single mum did so but we are in Outer London commuter belt.

You can work whatever hours you want provided your income is compatible with your outgoings.

I went to 4 days as due to tax and pension changes as a result and the reduced childcare it actual saved me money overall (but that is specific to my circs).

I am still the main earner on 4 days. Our combined gross income is around £82k although £12k of that is BTL income and at the moment the net income is only about £1200 so it doesn’t really count. Out salaried income is around £70k.

0.4 teacher here (2 days a week) and I earn £19k and my husband earns £90k.
