Jerry Springer has died

I used to watch his show when I was young. He always came across as fun and that he didn't take himself too seriously.

Same...sad news. Glad it was a peaceful death. The tiktok video he did in March he looked quite well which was reassuring. RIP Jerry. You will live on in my memories!!

@SwanUppmanship yes indeed. The Underground Station was being used as an air-raid shelter and he was born down there.

@Davros it was Highgate apparently.
I don't know whether it was during an actual raid. A lot of people just went down there every night.
His mother was probably thinking "Oh great. You want to be born now. Really?"

Needmorelego are you sure? Hampstead is the deepest station on the underground and I don't think Highgate is deep at all. But it's in the same area...

@Davros some of the tube stations used as shelters were barely underground.
It says Highgate on Wikipedia. Could be Hampstead?
Whichever one it was - interesting place to be born. Although as I said - probably not much fun for his mother 🙂

I hadn't realised his parents were German Jews who were fleeing the Holocaust. He had relatives who died in the Nazi gas chambers.

Yes, he kicked some nazi types off of his show once. They said something about they'd kill his family in theory or something like that and he told them to go

@Fourecks apparently he did an episode of Who Do You Think You Are which was very emotional.
I haven't seen it - I'm going to have to see if I can find it somewhere to watch.
For those saying he exploited people with his TV show - most probably wanted their 15 minutes of fame. The show ran for years so most people knew what they were getting into. They still chose to go on.

I liked his show. It was open about being trashy and exploitative, which was a refreshing change compared to the likes of Rikki Lake and Oprah which pretended to be classy but were really just as trashy and exploitative as Springer.
