DD accidentally fed week old pasta

Panicking! So my dad looked after DD today whilst I was at work. For her lunch he heated up some pasta and tomato sauce that was in the fridge. I initially thought I made it 3 days ago so it was fine. But I've now realised I actually made it last Thursday/Friday 😬😬😬 I meant to chuck it last night but completely forgot.

It was heated to piping in the microwave, didn't smell or look off but I'm now completely terrified DD will get food poisoning. 😞 For the record I'm not angry at my dad, he didn't know.

I wouldn't worry about it I'm sure all will be fine

PinkPlantCase · 27/04/2023 17:12

From your title I thought you meant he fed a 1 week old baby pasta!!!

Feeding a child who is meant to have solid food pasta that’s a week old will probably be fine.

Hellocatshome · 27/04/2023 17:17

There is nothing really in tomato pasta that can give you food poisoning though.

Can't do anything about if she gets ill she does, but I rather doubt and even if she does it will probably just be a bit of a stomach upset. At least you know it may happen and if she gets worse seek help.

Bobbliest · 27/04/2023 17:20

Also thought it was a week old baby you were referring to!

If there’s no meat then honestly she’ll be grand

onepieceoflollipop · 27/04/2023 17:21

I’d console myself it is relatively safe - no meat, fish, rice.
if you look at labels on processed tomato such as purée, it says keep in the fridge for several weeks.
I’m sure you’d eat week old fresh tomatoes or bread if they looked ok - this is the same.

Malloryhitops · 27/04/2023 17:22

I reckon she will be absolutely fine if there’s no meat in it I wouldn’t worry. It’s been refrigerated in a closed container and it’s been heated through. She will be fine x

TeaAndTwoSugars · 27/04/2023 17:36

If it was heated through piping hot and didn't look or smell off she will probably be ok.
Just keep an eye out over the next few days.

alyceflowers · 27/04/2023 17:42

So long as there was no visible mould on it, it was probably fine.

negomi90 · 27/04/2023 17:42

I regularly eat 1 week old food. I meal prep and keep things in the fridge. She'll be fine.

Yep. Me too - big fans of meal prepping. As long as it’s piping hot and doesn’t smell it’ll be fine!

There’s no need to start two threads about this

Christ on a bike. Really? What kind of food??

YunaBalloon · 27/04/2023 19:06

Week old food will be fine. I eat it plenty. A week is probably my limit though.

Modaboutyou · 27/04/2023 19:20

Week old food is fine, anything over no.

Treacletoots · 27/04/2023 19:21

Ready meals from a supermarket are regularly over 1 week old when you consume them. She'll be fine

They use preservatives and airtight packaging to keep them safe.

whatthebejesus · 27/04/2023 19:30

She'll be fine. We often eat food that's a week old.

drumandthebass · 27/04/2023 19:38

Another one who read this as a week old child being fed pasta!

I'm sure your DD will be fine

HVPRN · 27/04/2023 20:17

How old is your DD?

ASGIRC · 27/04/2023 20:40

I just ate week old pork and potatoes. It was delicious. Had some yesterday as well!

I also do food prep, and always allow for a week to eat it.

Your daughter will be absolutely fine!
