Just a flat white, is this normal? I live I the countryside, mostly WFH now.

I've just come to a local café for a change of scenery, and can't believe how expensive just a cup of coffee is now!

Being cool and resurrecting this thread. In Starbucks for first time in years and just paid £5.35 for a tall eggnog (yuck) latte!!!!

This is why I don't often get coffee out. I don't like the cafe experience. Usually too noisy with annoying people who talk constantly, glacial speed queues and coffee not hot enough so you can't leisurely sip it anyway.

I did get coffee and cake for £5.50 in a Booths cafe recently that was actually serenely quiet with a big glass window to the outside which was nice and I thought that was decent value.

Otherwise McDonalds or Greggs serve their purpose of a hot caffeine drink for half what chain or independent coffee shops charge and the coffee is fine.

The general public are not obliged to pay for more than they think is worth it to them to keep hobby businesses going, especially when they have their own CoL struggles to manage.
