Botox question

franglais123 · 17/04/2023 21:09

I have no intention of getting Botox but have a question - if you have it in your forehead, do you get wrinkles elsewhere instead?! I don’t know why you would but I’ve noticed a few influencers/celebs who clearly have it in their foreheads as they’re frozen, but seem to have very wrinkly random other areas which aren’t standard on an un-botoxed face - e.g. side of the nose. I don’t want to be unkind and post a photo - does anyone else know what I mean?

No you don't get more wrinkly elsewhere, it just stays the same.
It might look more wrinkly in comparison to the smoother botoxed parts.

franglais123 · 17/04/2023 21:42

@Thepossibility ah yes - I suppose that could be it. It’s in contrast to the shiny tight forehead!

Noooo of course you don't just suddenly get wrinkly elsewhere! 😂

Oh actually I have just googled it and tons of articles suggest that yes actually it does happen!

No, you don't get wrinkly elsewhere. I do maintain that if you obviously look like you've had botox, it's not a terribly good job.

LiliLil · 17/04/2023 21:45

My aesthetic nurse says that you can actually! Something to do with surrounding muscles working harder? I hope the PP are right and she’s wrong though.

franglais123 · 17/04/2023 21:46

In fact, the extra nose wrinkles are a thing! I knew I wasn’t making it up.

Why so interested if you have no intention of getting it done. Odd.

Wagsandclaws · 17/04/2023 22:03

I've been having Botox for over ten years and I've got no bunny lines or for that matter any lines that have popped up to make up for the botoxed area.

I'm 51 and I choose to be less liney than I would otherwise be but that's my choice. Shiny forehead all the way!!

Also sounds a bit like you are on a Botox bashing mission. 🤷‍♀️

If you don't want to have it then that's fine but I've never met anyone who has bunny lines caused by Botox, if they have them they are usually relaxed by putting Botox on them!

garlicandsapphires · 17/04/2023 22:05

When I had it I scrunched my eyes up more, so yes there’s something in your theory

garlicandsapphires · 17/04/2023 22:07

I don’t mean bunny lines, but because my facial expressions were limited I had to find other ways of expressing

franglais123 · 17/04/2023 22:12

@userxx Not massively interested but I’ve just noticed it recently and thought I’d ask if that’s ok. I should have just googled though as it immediately answered my question.

@Wagsandclaws I am quite anti Botox for numerous reasons but that’s not why I started the thread, not looking to debate it.

OP posts:
Wagsandclaws · 17/04/2023 22:14

@franglais123 that's fair enough.

I am interested as to why you are anti Botox though as surely it's up to the individual as to how they want to look?

What about Botox for excessive sweating or severe headaches?

Dontbelieveaword · 17/04/2023 22:17

@franglais123 bit contradictory to say you're not up to debate it?

As you say, you should have just googled it instead of making a goady thread. Having a boring night OP?

Mojoj · 17/04/2023 22:34

If more lines appear, you just get more Botox in them. For lots of people, it's preferable to looking wrinkly. But you clearly don't mind wrinkles since you're set against Botox 🤣🤣

virginpinkmartini · 17/04/2023 22:46

I had botox done for the first time 5 weeks ago, and I'm ecstatic with the overall results.

But if I scrunch my face, I have lines from my tear duct into my nose when I scrunch my face that definitely weren't there before.

For me, it's a fine trade-off. But it seems to be a common occurance.

If you suffered with migraines you wouldn't be, works wonders.

51andFabulous · 17/04/2023 22:49

I've had Botox for a couple of years now, and it certainly hasn't pushed wrinkles anywhere else. You seem determined to find the contrary online! I'm happy to confirm otherwise.

declutteringmymind · 17/04/2023 22:51

Yes you can get lines elsewhere as other muscles come into play when the botoxed ones are paralysed. Incounteract this by letting the Botox wear off for a good six weeks, then having it redone. The muscles that are part lead will thin out due to not being used, which is why people end up with protruding veins.

If you have a break then you will build them up a bit before you retreat them and retain a bit of volume.

But yes you are correct OP.

I had botox first time around 4 weeks ago, concentrating on my 11 and crows feet. I had heavy eyelids anyway (which appeared from absolutely nowhere about 6 months ago, BTW!) And as much as I love the outcome in the problem areas, I definitely think my eyelids have become droopier. I mentioned it in my 2 week follow up and she tried to correct it by lifting the brow with more botox but I don't find it's worked. Anyone else had this problem and had it fixed? Maybe it'll get better over next few weeks? I know it doesn't always have an immediate effect

I'm desperate for some in my forehead and 11's. Can I ask the pain scale? I'm not too much of a wimp...

I actually like it and find it relaxing but maybe I'm a weirdo!

Its not painful, can feel a bit of a sharp scratch in some areas but it’s over in a second and I find it’s worse at my 11 lines but I wouldn’t say it’s painful.

No painful in the slightest, the needle is teeny tiny.
