Botox question

I have no intention of getting Botox but have a question - if you have it in your forehead, do you get wrinkles elsewhere instead?! I don’t know why you would but I’ve noticed a few influencers/celebs who clearly have it in their foreheads as they’re frozen, but seem to have very wrinkly random other areas which aren’t standard on an un-botoxed face - e.g. side of the nose. I don’t want to be unkind and post a photo - does anyone else know what I mean?

But you are getting yourself injected with the most dangerous substance on earth.

Kickingupmerrybehaviour · 18/04/2023 22:18

Yes. Your face has to move somewhere so you can end up with lines in places you didn’t have them. I got the bunny lines on my nose but now I have a bit injected in my nose as well which seems to solve the issue.

Had it for forehead & around/between eyes. Absolutely lived it. Have had it done about 6 times in the last 10 years or so.

But you are getting yourself injected with the most dangerous substance on earth.

And yet millions of people around the world do it on a daily basis. Skilled, medical professionals make millions out of it.
If it's not for you, don't do it. But as long as someone's not being forced or coerced into having it injected, and they've done all their research and found someone reputable, it's no-one else's business what they do.

I didn't say it wasn't anyone's choice. If someone wants to be injected, rock on.

But I wonder how many know that it is the most dangerous substance on earth.

But, granted, one hopes that safety procedures are followed.

No, we're all thick as pigshit and haven't got a clue.

Chillyallday · 18/04/2023 22:40

I’ve definitely noticed the bunny lines on some celebs, and my friends in real life who get Botox in forehead have a lot more smile lines round eyes when they first get the treatment done.

It's only dangerous in massive quantities...it's not like millions are dying from the effects of botox exposure every year (unlike cigarettes, alcohol etc.) - although I'm sure there are certain number of bad reactions, like with any substance.

Like the previous poster said, most people do their research and are aware there is a risk involved but if administered correctly by a trained professional the risks are minimal.

Does it stop your forehead from sweating? I'd have it for that. I get sick of having to mop my face and looking like I've just stepped out of the shower, with soaking hair clinging to my temples.

No painful in the slightest, the needle is teeny tiny.

I generally appear to have quite a high pain threshold but I find getting my Botox jabs VERY painful!

shivermetimbers77 · 18/04/2023 23:03

Gingergirl70 I had the same thing with the droopy eyelids. I asked the doctor and the next time he did it he injected higher up on the frontalis muscle of the forehead
and that helped a bit although I still definitely got some hooding. I think it just happens to some people unfortunately .

ReUseRepeat · 18/04/2023 23:09

Yes the sides of the nose - bunny lines- can form. It's muscles compensating. Most decent practitioners won't just treat one area, they know the other areas that need to be treated to stop the "compensation".

I’ve been having Botox injections for 24 years now, every 3 months, in my neck, on medical grounds. (I have dystonia). I don’t have wrinkles in other random places in my neck - and seem perfectly fit and well otherwise!

LondonSouth28 · 19/04/2023 21:02

Why are you posting this when you have no intention of having Botox? What an utter waste of time.

franglais123 · 17/04/2023 21:44

Oh actually I have just googled it and tons of articles suggest that yes actually it does happen!

Yes it does happen. It's transferred movement. That's why a good doctor will adapt your treatment as you age. I've started needing a drop in my "rabbit lines" on my nose. I hadn't known it was a thing.

franglais123 · 20/04/2023 06:48

@LondonSouth28 Because I wondered about it? In future I’ll make sure to run my questions by you first though.

I also have Botox treatment for dystonia every 12 - 15 weeks and it’s been a godsend. It’s perfectly safe if administered by someone medically trained and experienced. I haven’t noticed any random wrinkles that weren’t there before!
