Good morning all! What's everyone up to today?

lucysmam · 16/04/2023 08:31

I'm sitting in my spot, with my first cuppa of the day. Everyone else is still asleep & all I can hear is the birds outside, through the open window. Lovely 😊

My plan for the day is to iron, and then do not much else. I'm still not well & really struggling not to over-do it though! I'll probably crochet my way through the day, either the top that's frustrating me, or the blanket I've been working on. I need to contact my Rainbow and Guide parents to cancel Tuesday too - there won't be enough grown ups this week without me 😢

I'll get the girls to check their homework's all complete & uniform/whatever they need is all ready for the morning, too.

Other than that, probably a very slow day here!

Roast pork for tea, with roast potatoes, some sort of veg and yorkshires. I really want a proper dinner but not sure how much I'll eat 🤷‍♀️.

What about all of you? 🙂

Finished a night shift, everyone still asleep. Just me the dogs and a very noisy seagull, pigeon and small sparrows.

coolcahuna · 16/04/2023 08:34

I'm lying in bed with my partner snuggled right in and fast asleep so don't feel I can move him and make coffee just yet! Plan for today is brunch and a roast both at home.

Debating popping to a car boot, crazy talk? Need to call my Mum and also drop teen to a party. Might also list some bits on ebay. A pottering around day.

Rainsdropskeepfalling · 16/04/2023 08:35

Up and in the car driving to DS2 rugby game about an hour away. Feeling grateful this match wasn't earlier in the season when it's darker and the pitche inspection is more likely to call it off, usually just as you arrive at the grounds...

SomePosters · 16/04/2023 08:39

Paper due in tomorrow.

today I am finishing that broken up by pottering in the garden or house to get me moving between

Kim82 · 16/04/2023 08:43

Good morning everyone. I’ve just finished my first cup of tea of the day. Dh is watching tv and dd8 is awake and on the sofa under a blanket with her iPad.

I need to get organised today as it’s back to school/uni/work tomorrow for us all so I’ll do a quick house clean (it’s not too bad so should only take an hour or so), make sure homework is done and iron uniforms. I think dh might be going to work for a couple of hours today but if not he’ll be joining in the cleaning.

I need to drive down to my sister’s to drop off some school summer dresses I picked up for my niece whilst I was getting some for dd8 yesterday.

I think dd18 has her driving lesson this afternoon and I’m hoping all housework related jobs can be finished by then so I can relax and read a book for a couple of hours.

We’re having curry for tea then early nights all round as the early get up tomorrow is going to be hard work for us all after 2 weeks of late mornings!

massivesalads · 16/04/2023 08:43

Off to Cornwall tomorrow for a week so will spend the day doing all the washing, packing and making sure the house is tidy for when we come home!

DP and I might pop out for lunch and a glass of wine as MIL has offered to have DS for a few hours.

Lbnc2021 · 16/04/2023 08:44

We’re away to Gran Canaria tomorrow so getting last minute packing done and house cleaned

Beginningless · 16/04/2023 08:48

Good morning, still in bed, about to get up.

Planning to laze a bit, a little housework and kids have a birthday party in a garden later. Yesterday was busy so slow day needed. Have a lovely day all.

lorn195 · 16/04/2023 08:49

Currently lying in bed with a fresh cup of coffee made by DH.

The day will be spent recovering from a 14 hour journey, Cornwall-London-Cornwall after dropping DS1 back to his halls.

May do a bit of washing, but not much else.

CrapBucket · 16/04/2023 08:50

Sorry you’re not well @lucysmam

I’ve just made myself breakfast in bed. Coffee, brioche and fancy jam. Now feeling slightly sick…

My plan is church, Asda, yoga interspersed with laundry and making sure the teenagers are ready for school without actually asking them (god forbid).

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/04/2023 08:51

Good morning Lucysmam. It's a shame that you still aren't well. I've been awake since half five. The curse of getting older means more interrupted sleep. The joy of being retired means I can nap in the afternoon if I need to. No real plans for today. I'll put a chicken crown in the oven soon and empty then load the dishwasher. Dd is maybe coming over with the boys later and we'll go for a walk. Perhaps I'll do a bit of cross stitch.

Crunchymum · 16/04/2023 08:52

Back to school prep for us (kids don't go back until Tuesday but I'm back at work tomorrow). Finish homework, baths, iron uniforms, deep clean etc. We're drawing straws for chores.

Football is on at 2pm. We're Arsenal fans so it's all getting to be a bit "squeaky bum time" now 😜

Daddy will take the kids out after, probably for a bike along the canal and I've already prepped dinner (pork in ginger, soy and garlic marinated overnight, we'll have with rice and salad) and we'll finish off the Easter choc later. Kids going to watch Peter Rabbit 2 this evening. It's all been agreed already apparently!!

DCINightingale · 16/04/2023 08:53

Morning everyone. Just had breakfast, will soon pile everyone into the car to go to a nearby carboot sale. DH wants a few plants so we shall go to the garden centre afterwards if we can't find what he wants at the sale. Then back home for lunch.

We have some screen style doors to fit to stop our pets escaping when we have the doors open in summer, so hopefully we can do that this afternoon. Then I might go and dig a big hole in the allotment

Hopefully will be a nice chilled day before school starts again tomorrow. Hope you all have good days

Crunchymum · 16/04/2023 08:54

Sorry to hear you are still poorly @lucysmam

Is it still ongoing? I remember you had tummy issued? Has your GP been any use.

It's been a horrific time, illness wise, for so many this winter. And it's been a long old winter.

Wising you well

DiscoBeat · 16/04/2023 08:59

We had 5 teenagers here last night and I was up half the night just in case. DH's shift now and he's on on pancake duty while I laze in bed for a bit! Quiet day today, with a nice long dog walk later.

daffodilandtulip · 16/04/2023 09:01

Pretty sure it's illegal to get dressed or off the sofa on the last day of the holidays...

CoodleMoodle · 16/04/2023 09:01

We're off to the cinema this morning, and then Pizza Hut for lunch as a little treat for the DC. I don't like going to the cinema in the morning, it always feels weird!

After we get home everyone needs a bath, then we've got to make sure any last bits of homework are done (DS4 had some homework, DD9 had none!), change the bedsheets and sort out school uniform. I washed it all in the holidays so it's all ready, hopefully.

PayNoAttentionToTheNastyLady · 16/04/2023 09:03

Just had bacon, egg and tomatoes. I'll do some ironing later (which I've been putting off for ages), then vacuum through downstairs. This afternoon, I'll go to see my son in his new house, then back here for salmon and lots of vegetables.

frozendaisy · 16/04/2023 09:05

Make coffee
Get ready for back to school (hand sewing required).
Roast pork dinner.
Early night.

Back to reality.

lucysmam · 16/04/2023 09:05

@Crunchymum it's still the same thing. The GP I saw on Friday has finally booked some tests & an ultrasound to see what's actually going on in there & she's booked me another (phone) appointment tomorrow that I wasn't expecting. That's handy though because I appear to be retaining water in my feet/ankles now too so wanted to ask about that.

I'm channeling my inner potato atm & it's really frustrating me having to slow down so much. Just my appointment on Friday, then a friend coming for a cuppa, wore me out for the day.

SorePaw · 16/04/2023 09:07

@lucysmam I'm sorry you're still not well!

could a parent not step up & help out? Or do they need another guiding person?

I couldn't get to sleep at all last night, so I feel dreadful this morning. I think the 40 minutes I got at about 6.40 are making me feel worse, not better. I was exhausted anyway, so...🙇🏻‍♀️

I will be doing sweet FA. Inset day tomorrow. I should go for a good walk to hopefully help sleep tonight, but frankly the kitchen for coffee feels like an epic adventure!!

Lifehaslifedme · 16/04/2023 09:07

Woke up (well woken up by DD 20months).
Gave her a bottle.Made myself a cuppa and bagel with toast.
Made some DH and gave him his in bed.
Tidying up kitchen at rented apartment and we ill shower and pack and be on our way home 4 hours away!

Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 16/04/2023 09:09

We got home from two weeks in Morocco at 3am last night so a gentle lazy day is on the cards. I will attempt an easy run this morning as I have put on about 10 stone and need to get back to be being good! We are going to the cinema this afternoon to see Dungeon & Dragons. I will have a nice long bath later and we will probably watch the Ted Lasso episodes we whilst away tonight in an attempt to stave the back to work blues.

JorisBonson · 16/04/2023 09:11

DH woke me up coming in off nights so made the most of the early start, first load of washing already on the line!

I feel like I'm coming down with something and have some non negotiable (and quite physical) training on Tuesday so going to hunker down today and try to nip it in the bud.

This time next week I'll be packing for a few days in Crete so just waiting for that!

twistyizzy · 16/04/2023 09:13

Sitting with a coffee already done the horse + walked the dog but just about to set off to gundog training. Will pick DD up afterwards and take her to watch some friends at a show and lunch will probably be cheesey chips.
Then back home to shove all the household mess into random cupboards as parents are coming round for afternoon tea. Back up to the yard at tea time to ride then will crash on sofa around 8pm and drink myself into oblivion at the thought of going back to work after Easter 😔.
Hoping DH will tackle the ironing mountain later today because I'm not but if he doesn't no-one will have any clothes for school/work tomorrow.
