What's in at the moment? DS doesn’t really care about clothes, but needs something lighter weight for the warmer weather. Just looking for ideas (plan to show him and see what he likes). I’m not going shopping without ideas first and there’s no point sending him shopping alone.

Not very trendy but I find for an every day jacket for kids I would look at something like a regatta or trespass one. They have some great 2 in 1 coats which are fab, Waterproof and windproof with an added fleece jacket to zip or unzip depending on temp and weather. You cant go wrong. Functional everyday coats that just work,All our family have them and they are really reasonably priced too.

Thank you. We have quite a few jackets like that. I was watching him with some friends/ peers walking down the road back from school and he stood out a bit. Not that that should matter, but I sort of want him to have similar (I didn’t really get a proper look for being accused of staining, hence asking here!). I’m always practically dressed and he never asks for anything, and I don’t want to impose my 'style' onto him.

If you can get to a North Face outlet store, I'd get him one of those.

I get you! In that case maybe sit down with your son and look at m and m direct, boohoo man,top shop, river island and pretty green. These all cater for young men really so there might be something he sees that he would like? Bless him though he sounds like my son who is slightly older,he was never bothered about clothes either, now my daughter is another kettle of fish altogether, she is a nightmare,if it isnt Nike or Adidas or Reebok she doesnt want to know..ugh!!!!

Wereongunoil · 15/04/2023 19:30

I'm not sure one exists.

At least mine never wore coats at that age

MintMa · 15/04/2023 19:32

Nike or north face. Don't get a regatta or mountain warehouse type one, he'll get ripped. (Or superdry/anything from sports direct - teenagers know) if you have an outlet village near you I'd have a look there first

Invisimamma · 15/04/2023 19:36

The North Face or Napapijri. Or Nike if your budget doesn't stretch to those.

Definitely not the regatta 2 in 1 suggested by pp above! Those are fine for under 10s but not for trendy teens.

gerbo · 15/04/2023 19:38

I have a son who is 13 and a daughter of 16. A standard for all 16 year old here is a black puffer jacket, preferably North Face. Also Adidas and Puma are cool.

gerbo · 15/04/2023 19:39

And yes, of course, Nike! My son would be head to toe Nike if he could. Absolutely no cagoules or waterproofs would be OK any more, sadly!

gerbo · 15/04/2023 19:39

H&M are good for teens.

SwanUppmanship · 15/04/2023 19:42

Those borg fleece things are good for chilly evenings https://www.next.co.uk/style/ls327010/K16357#K16357

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 15/04/2023 19:46

For teenagers plain black rain coat or puffer. Brands mine like are Nike north face. The school I work at they all have a variation on the above but definitely plain black.

Needingacoffee · 15/04/2023 19:49

My 15 year old son would wear Nike or Adidas. If it's warm enough, he doesn't wear a jacket.

Puma is definitely not cool. DS said kids that wear puma shoes get called 'poor' at his school which is really sad but most just want to fit in.

fruitpastille · 15/04/2023 20:14

Mine won't wear north face. For warmer weather would he wear a hoodie or padded shirt? H&M is good. Small mens size rather than teen.

sealon82 · 15/04/2023 20:19

Nike Northface or Adidas. Try Jd sports or Tkmaxx.

TwoCoffeesandAMilkshake · 15/04/2023 20:34

Thank you so much! I’ll run some of these by him.

Berghaus or North Face is a safe bet. If you are my 16 year old DS its StoneIsland but if he's not bothered I wouldn't waste the ££££.

Not a chance of a teen boy touching one of those here

springhas · 15/04/2023 20:48

Just a hoody here. Coat if worn is North Face puffa and black only

bravotango · 15/04/2023 20:49

I'd look at a plain raincoat/jacket from Uniqlo, they look 'cool' but aren't flashy

Popfan · 15/04/2023 20:58

Have a look at Closure London, my DS15 likes their clothes and they are good value too. He has a lightweight black puffa from there.

SleepHygieneHelp · 15/04/2023 21:10

My ds (15) has one from super dry. It's got a thicker lining and is water resistant to pretty much everyone other than a downpour. But good thing about it is it's not too warm either

Landlubber2019 · 15/04/2023 21:12

Mine both wear Berghaus. One is very design orientated the other not.
