What's in at the moment? DS doesn’t really care about clothes, but needs something lighter weight for the warmer weather. Just looking for ideas (plan to show him and see what he likes). I’m not going shopping without ideas first and there’s no point sending him shopping alone.

I think maybe have a look around at what similar age boys are wearing in your area as some of the suggestions on here are definitely not 15/16 year old boy style in our area.

My 15 and 16yo boys took their leather jackets (one fake leather, one is real biker jacket his uncle gave him) when we went out today. 16yo has black parka type jacket for winter (bought from M&M direct, don't remember the brand, his last one was from Sports direct and similar). 15yo wears a Superdry jacket in winter (2nd hand on ebay), has had a few over the years and I've been really impressed with them.
Neither would wear a North Face puffa, even if I could afford to buy one, as that's what the 'roadmen' types wear round here and neither of them are in that social group.

DD very rarely wears a coat and prefers to get wet or wear a large hoodie!

Montirex around here. It's like uniform for teenage/early 20s lads
