Always like these threads as I get lots of inspiration. Tonight is simple though - chicken breast kievs with triple cooked chips & petitpois

We were going to have marinated chicken fillets with salad but DH asked if I fancied fish and chips.

I've had a difficult day and was dreading supper as didn't have much in. Turns out noone else was hungry so ended up making myself pasta with garlic, tomato and tuna. Lots of salt and pepper. And a small gin and tonic. It was so good.

Microwave Mac and cheese. On my
Own tonight and couldn't be arsed with anything else

Spaghetti and meat balls. Vegan balls for me. Beef meat balls for DH and DD and plain meat balls ( no Spaghetti or sauce) with garlic bread and raw pepper slices for fussy DS.

Iftar buffet of: samosa, kibbeh, hummus, fattoush, grilled chicken, fries, Vimto jelly and red tea. Delish!

That sounds brilliant

I love these threads - always get new ideas from them.

I'm absolutely intrigued by vimto jelly! Is this a thing? I immediately want to have it!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/04/2023 05:09

Lamb bolognese (but instead of mince I use chops and pull apart with forks to shred when done) served over penne; roasted veg platter (asparagus, zucchini, yellow bell peppers).

We had these, which were delicious:

If I was making them again, I'd probably serve with sour cream then they'd be even more delicious. Went down really well though - 4 clean plates!

aaah thanks for this. I have sour cream I need using up!!

@Chelsea26 we tend to open our fasts ie the first thing you eat will be a date and water. No specific number of dates. Some people then like to go off and pray (the sunset prayer)immediately, others will prefer to have dates water and a starter eg soup/fruit and then pray. Others like having a full meal and then praying. Obviously it’s different family to family but generally people tend to have 3 courses even if they are very tiny.

Chelsea26 · 14/04/2023 08:09

@TakeMe2Insanity Thank you 😊

Yes you can make your own Vimto jelly using the concentrated juice and a setting agent (gelatine or equivalent) let it set. Extra delicious with a blob of whipped cream on top!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/04/2023 11:27

@MustardChair it's easy as. Chops, jar sauce, onion, mushrooms, extra dried herbs, garlic etc. your choice. Can do from frozen and I do this a lot. Sometimes a splash of red wine in sauce if I have it. Otherwise a bit of water if needed. All into roaster in the oven. Give it a check and stir a few times. Grate parm or pecorino over top to serve. 😋

ODFOx · 14/04/2023 12:10

Last night was panini made with thinly sliced leftover roast beef, a tomato and mustard onion sauce, mozzarella.
Tonight shakshuka (DD will have mozzarella instead of eggs in hers) or daal with beetroot bhajis.

BreviloquentBastard · 14/04/2023 12:12

A classic lazy dinner, carbonara.

TakeMe2Insanity · 14/04/2023 14:02

Dinner last was mashed potato with chicken (onion, ginger, garlic, cumin, lots of black pepper). No vegetables as pregnant and making me vomit.

Tonight burgers, we’ll see what variation mine takes on.
