Looking at booking a holiday in November to Tenerife
We have found a good deal of £999pp all inclusive for 9 nights staying at the riu buenavista in playa pariso
Has anyone stayed in this area or even at the hotel ?
What's Tenerife like in November
We normally go to Gran Canaria

My DD & her DH go all the time, they absolutely love it. Not been myself, so sorry I can't be any more help!

I'm interested too - we want to try Tenerife in November. We love Lanzarote but fancy a change...

We love Lanzarote but hated Tenerife...

I love Costa Adeje in Tenerife for winter sunshine but I don't think it's a particularly pretty island. I would never go in summer when, for instance, the Greek Islands are hot. No comparison, but obv personal preference.

closethegyyt · 12/04/2023 15:44

@FrenchandSaunders I agree Greece and the likes of Cyprus are beautiful in summer

Ive been to all the canaries and my favourite is Fuerteventura by far and Tenerife the least. Ugly island and way too commercialised for me.

RideACockHorseToSunburyCross · 12/04/2023 16:50

I like Costa adeje best of the resorts. Also love fuerteventura

I stayed in that area in late Sep It's a quieter area but nice with good hotels and quick transfer to the airport.

PsychoHotSauce · 12/04/2023 16:57

I've been to paraiso many times! We only stopped because our cheap and cheerful hotel was turned into a Hard Rock and too expensive for usSad

I've walked past the riu and chatted to guests when we've all been down the Lido a few mins walk away. Always heard good things but this was 7+years ago.

Be aware, there is very little there. It's like a quiet village rather than a resort, or at least when I was there. It was quite rundown but had a certain charm, and is well connected with buses to Las Americas and adeje.

Enfys1982 · 12/04/2023 16:59

Tenerife is fab. The North and South are very different. The South is very dry and almost desert like, it’s mostly man made resorts and is where most of the British tourists go. Costa Adeje is lovely, so is Los Cristianos. Las Americas is a bit rowdy and 18-30 ish if that’s what you like. The North is more green lush and more subtropical. It’s prone to rain and the weather can change very quickly. There’s also lots to do like Siam Park the biggest water park in the world, Teide the volcano and Loro Parque.

I thought Lanzarote was windy, dusty shit hole. Don’t get the love for it on here.

FictionalCharacter · 12/04/2023 17:03

I love it, would go again tomorrow if I could!

BigusBumus1 · 12/04/2023 17:07

We stayed at the H10 Atlantic Sunset in Paraiso. It was nice enough. I thought the area was very dull though.

80sMum · 12/04/2023 17:25

It depends on which part of Tenerife you go to.

I would never consider staying in the south, personally, as it's horribly over-developed and grotty (just my opinion).

The north is a huge contrast to the south, like a different country, with some spectacularly beautiful scenery, and also has a different climate from the south - expect cooler temperatures with more cloud (sometimes thick fog) and possibly also some rain. It's much more Spanish and there are some gorgeous little isolated villages perched precariously on the mountainsides along the steep, winding mountain roads (driving can be a bit of a nerve-wracking experience!).

If you're a keen hiker and would relish the prospect of long walks in low cloud (and possibly drizzle), without meeting another person all day, go to the north (and pack waterproofs just in case). If you want resorts, restaurants and hotels, or you're a sun-worshipper and like sitting around a hotel pool and sunbathing, the south would suit you better.

chocolateisavegetable · 12/04/2023 17:37

You should get nice weather in the South West of the island in November. We are regulars to Tenerife mainly because it’s almost guaranteed good weather without travelling too far.

itsgettingweird · 12/04/2023 17:42

I lived in the village next to Playa Parasio for many years!

The area itself is much more up and coming than it was previously and has much more available for tourists.

However it isn't the main tourist area and the beach isn't a sandy lay on the beach all day type of beach you may well be imagining! Playa las Galgas right next door is at the bottom of a barranco, has a play park, is very small and is a black volcanic sand inlet. You would need to travel back down towards the south to Playa de Las Americas for yellow sand beaches, sun beds and umbrellas, water sports etc

The resort itself is huge and dependent on whether you'll be happy with hotel pools (remember it's November so weather will be hit and Miss!) and happy to get on buses to access more livelier areas it'll be a nice holiday.

Playa Fanabe is lovely for beaches.

itsgettingweird · 12/04/2023 17:44

Isn't** huge!!!!!

closethegyyt · 12/04/2023 18:09

Yeah we would deffo get a taxi into the more livelier parts
Tbh we won't be leaving the resort lots anyway
We want to do a couple of nights eating out and a boat trip and a beach day and the rest we will be around the pool /resort
It will be the first week in November when we go
Last year we went to GC and it was over 25 degrees every day and just lovely
Il be happy over 20 degrees tbh

We were at the hotel last year April. Not bad but also nothing special to be honest.

The area is not really that great though. You can walk around and there are some nice restaurants if you want a change but it's not a pretty area and I am not sure how easy it would be to go out in the dark in November.

I would look for a more proper town setting, chance are also higher that more facilities are open, you are outside of main season.

Same. We go in winter after Xmas but only for the nearby warm weather, wouldn't choose it otherwise, or any time from Easter.

LadyEloise1 · 12/04/2023 19:04

I thought Costa Adeje was just ok.
I wouldn't be rushing back.
I was disappointed with the crowded small beaches. We went in April.

closethegyyt · 12/04/2023 19:39

@reluctantbrit is the food nice ?
We have seen they have a Asian and Italian restaurant
Any good ?

That’s a crazy statement.

I live in north Tenerife and it’s absolutely beautiful - You’ve clearly not stepped out of the south have you?

BigusBumus1 · 19/04/2023 12:20

@AbsoIutelyLovely Yes i have, ive been all over and i agree parts of the north and Santa Cruz are OK. We are not pool or beach people and tend to hire cars and get out and see the whole of an island that we go to, criss-crossing it daily.

Its just my opinion thas all!
