Did anyone else NOT enjoy The Last of Us tv show?!

Everyone I speak to loves it, says certain episodes are the best they’ve ever seen on TV… but it just fell flat for me. On paper it should have been right up my street, I love shows about character dynamics but it just felt so contrived a lot of the time.
I loved Pedro Pascal, he’s believable in the role and plays it so well, but a lot of the main plot lines were really predictable (I never played the game) and then the twists just felt like they were done for shock value without much thought. I don’t know… just know I can’t be the only one!
come and join me fellow petty critics who weren’t wowed…

I enjoyed it, I'm afraid! I didn't go in with high expectations as I didn't know anything about it and hadn't heard much about it, other than it was 'about zombies' so if anything I was a bit hesitant.

but a lot of the main plot lines were really predictable (I never played the game) what do you mean by this?

It reminded me of the first few seasons of The Walking Dead, which I thought were good. Later seasons not so much.

I’m a bit meh. Love a zombie film but still haven’t finished it. If you like a zombie series Black Summer is fab. Scary in parts !

I didn’t bother after the first episode. Felt too contrived. I was disappointed as there was a lot of hype about it so I was surprised a couple of my friends hadn’t liked it either.

Yes I didnt like it. Managed four episodes before realising I just wasn't invested.

I liked it but I didn’t love it. I just thought it was really well made - visually amazing and great acting, so I enjoyed it but I do think it was overrated.

@HappyValet i didn’t play the game so that’s not why I found them predictable but found myself easily knowing what was going to happen to a lot of characters before it happened - tess, the brothers, Kathleen, and I predicted the very end of the series early on because it was the obvious way it was going. DH said it wasn’t about that, it was about the relationship between Joel and Ellie which I get, and which I did enjoy but it just wasn’t enough for me. I thought the styling and the scenery/world building was really well done but overall it just fell flat.

I love that song Long Long Time by Linda Ronstadt that they used for that episode

It was ok, I did watch it all but wasn't in a rush to watch the episodes as it wasn't really the type of series I watch, I only managed about 6 episodes of The Walking Dead which people often compared it with.

I tried to watch it and I just thought it was so utterly predictable, one trope after another, got bored and gave up.

I liked it enough to watch it all, although not as it was shown but didn't find it amazing and I did think for a programme based around zombies (or fungus or whatever it actually was) there was a distinct lack of them and it was more the survivong humans actually causing all the issues.

Neither myself nor my boyfriend liked it. We love anything with zombies. But this ...we felt there was no plot and it just dragged itself along with far too few actual zombies. Plus, Ellie was awful.

I could take or leave The Last Of Us. Dh enjoyed it as did dd4 but they've both played the game. I thought the TV show was boring.

Also the people with the fungus on their heads were laughable and the episode with the two gay guys was cringeworthy and clichéd.

DP watched (and liked) it, I couldn’t get into it st all, I watched part of the first episode and it was like watching someone else play a video game... found out after that that some of the dialogue is in fact the same as the game, so I wasn’t wrong 😂

I wasn't over enamoured except for the Nick Offerman episode which I really loved. The rest of the show was meh. I've watched TWD and Z Nation, the production value of TLOU is impressive but I think because I've seen it all before I wasn't blown away with the storyline.
