What lovely or not so lovely things have you found in a bag that you have bought at a jumble sale, charity shop, car boot fair or Vinted etc?

I bought a lovely Mulberry handbag on eBay.
When it arrived it had two vibrators packed inside.

Not a bag, but I bought a coat a year or so ago from a charity shop that had withdrawn old ten pounds notes stitched in to the inside of the lining. It was a lovely coat but rustled dreadfully and I could feel there was something inside, and l could also see the seam had been carefully resewn. So I picked it open and there were ten old paper £10 notes stitched in! They looked really old and worn too. I was able to pay them in to my account and donated some back to the charity and some to a local women's shelter. Couldn't give them direct as they wouldn't take them!

I do wonder about the woman who's coat it was. Was she perhaps so desperate that she had to hide money that way? Did things get better and she forgot? Was it just someone who distrusted banks? Who knows, but I doubt I'll discover anything so intriguing again!

A leather bag from a charity shop, found a gold and sapphire wishbone ring.

Not a bag but I found a small clay diplodocus obviously made by a child in the pocket of an eBay coat.

Trendy next door neighbour gave 7yo me a hand bag she was getting rid of. Had to ask my mum what the condoms were 🤭

I could see that as the opening scene of a Sunday night three-part drama where you set off to discover the story, and the woman, behind the coat.

In 2020, I found a new-looking bereavement card tucked into a hard-to-see side pocket. It had a really long message which talked about the deceased being taken too young and then said something about "When we met at comprehensive school in 1950". I'm a terrible person but it did kind of make me chuckle.
I always wondered whether the bag belonged to the recipient or the sender.

My friend bought a bag online and found a very smelly used pregnancy test in the handbag zip pocket.

Not something I bought, but I was sorting donations for a school fete and there was a little beaded purse which had £10 folded neatly in it. Clearly given to someone for a birthday and they never bothered to look in it. I gave the £10 to the school fete

I found a £20 note in a handbag once. Took it to the lady on the counter and she said I was welcome to keep it as most other people would. I gave her it instead.

Bought a bag off eBay for a wedding, it had a silver necklace and two gold and diamond rings in it. Worth was about £400. The bag cost me £5. I contacted the seller but heard nothing back so after contacting eBay who were satisfied I had contacted the seller, I sold them.

About 2 months later, seller got back to me, she said she bought items in bulk and listed them, she had no idea they were in there so she couldn't trace them back to their owner as it was just bulk purchase so had probably gone through another pair of hands or possibly a charity shop as it was a mix of clearances from homes and stuff charity shops didn't manage to sell. She told me good luck to me, and she said she would check better next time!

Not a bag but I bought a coat for my toddler and it had conkers and leaves in the pockets, made me smile , so adorable!

Not a bag but bought a pair of jeans on eBay for about £5 and found £20 in the pocket when they arrived. Bonus 😊

My mum found a vintage, lace, hand embroidered handkerchief in a pocket of a coat. The coat is long since gone, but she still has the handkerchief!

I bought a pure wool coat on ebay and when it arrived,I wore it to work
Went on my break put my hand in the pocket and pulled out a used San Pro,a snotty tissue and a grotty hairclip
I still have the coat but I went via the dry cleaners on the way home

I ordered a new phone case for DS as a stocking filler. It arrived sealed in plastic.
When he tried to put his bank pass in the flip pocket he found two half-stamped savings cards for a Belgian health shop/ organic supermarket.
