Chocolate tea straw

I like to have chocolate or a biscuit with a cup of tea but something I've never tried is using a biscuit like a straw. Someone told me about this once.

Tonight I had a Kit Kat Easter egg. The Easter egg chocolate is pretty blah. But it came with a chunky Kit Kat so I decided to see if it would work as a straw. And oh. My. God. How have I gone without this for so long!

I bit the chocolate off each end and merrily drank my tea through it. Mind blowing! Although I did feel a bit like a kid playing with their food or blowing bubbles in their milk.

So, what other chocolate bars/biscuits would this work with. I've a lot of catching up to do!

Blue riband
Drifter (caramel-y mmm)

Come back when you’ve tried it with Baileys!

I haven't even seen a blue riband since my granny's biscuit tin circa 1995! I can imagine they work well but don't have the chunky chocolate of a Kit Kat

Wait now I’ve seen Drifters are no longer made? Tbf haven’t done the whole chocolate straw thing for years this thread just reminded me

Come back when you’ve tried it with Baileys!

How does this work? Isn't the appeal that it's warm so it melts the inside of the chocolate bar?

TimTams are the ultimate. Penguins if not. Bite off opposite corners, suck up tea. As the tea hits your mouth, shove biscuit in whole and squish with your tongue.

There was a chocolate bar called a spira, in the late 90s I think, that would be amazing for this very purpose.

Why do they discontinue all the best chocolate bars? Bring back the fuse bar!

Shock

The diagonal tea suck! Of course, I can imagine this works well for a penguin.

This reminds me of another biscuit I haven't had in a loooong time. Stroopwaffles (I hope I'm spelling that correctly)

And you need the perfect diameter on the rim of your cup to balance it on. Heat of the tea makes the inside gooey Grin

Yes, I regularly had spira straw tea!!! It was amazing ! Just had to drink quickly before the spira melted and collapsed.

Twix!

I was just on my way to say a Twix! 🤩 the combination of biscuit and caramel works well

Getthefiregoing · 09/04/2023 21:31

I cannot believe I've discovered this too late to use a spira.

Adds twix to shopping list

We use to call it our Twix Fix 😁

saraclara · 09/04/2023 21:36

I've only done the Tim Tam straw thing. I don't think that anything else could come up that standard of perfection.

How have I never heard of this?! Looking forward to giving it a go. What is the name of the long, thin, straw shape wafer/biscuit with chocolate in the middle? I think they come in a silver tin with red writing. Would they work? Were they actually designed for this?!! I'm over invested now.

Rainbowshit · 09/04/2023 21:41

Penguins.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/04/2023 21:42

Cadbury's fingers. And I hate biscuit dunking usually. But they are lush!

There also those Milky Way things that are similar to what you describe but with a lovely creamy middle bit.

God I'm going to hit the biscuit aisle hard tomorrow Blush

Caprice? Chocolate wafers?

EvenHeathens · 09/04/2023 21:58

Wafer straws, theyre with the ice cream stuff usually

Ive never heard of this either and Im questioning whether I want to try it or not!

soggydigestives · 09/04/2023 22:03

I do this with penguins! Absolutely devine!

PauseTheRain · 09/04/2023 22:53

Would matchmakers work? I'm cross that we don't have any baileys or biscuits. Wtf is wrong with us?! Looking at our Easter eggs with utter disdain. Might have to try to suck my wine with an Easter egg, although that will mean I have to be arsed to try (and fail) to get wine out of my top when it doesn't work.
