Cabin bag to fit under seat

WashAsDelicates · 07/04/2023 19:23

I'm packing for a flight and struggling to find a bag that meets EasyJet's 'small cabin bag' dimensions: 45cm x 36cm x 20cm.

It's the 20cm that's the problem. I feel like I need an old-fashioned briefcase with rigid sides, like my dad used to take to the office.

Can anyone recommend a bag that fits those dimensions? For a future trip, obviously! For tomorrow I'm going to have to manage with one of the dc's little rucksacks.

I mean I'm struggling to find such a bag at home. We have bags, rucksacks, suitcases in all sizes. But nothing 20cm thick.

Plenty on Amazon with the exact size

Batbatbatty · 07/04/2023 19:27

Ah okay. Well anything that's soft and not packed completely full will be able to be squished into the size checker thing.

Not that they've checked mine in the past year or so.

Mia TUI Jennie is my go to for travel. It’s been on lots of flights and weekends and still looks good.

I've just had two of these delivered for an upcoming trip we have.

I agree, Mia Tui Jennie is amazingly capacious and easy to fit under the seat

Amazon is your friend, lots of cabin bags sized for specific airlines. I've got a great one, think the brand is max cabin or something, for Ryanair size. It is a tardis, I got loads in it for a 3 night break and had room to spare. It has compression straps on the sides so can load it up with clothes then squish it using the straps.

whatausername · 07/04/2023 19:59

Check cabinmax.com - they sell cabin bags based on the size restrictions of different airlines.

This would fit with the dimensions OP. I"ve got one and bought the same for a friend for her flight.

I just use a big rucksack. It squishes into the holder. Just flew back two days ago

Be really careful and take the size of the wheels into the overall measurement, I stupidly didn't and had to pay £40 on the spot to take my bag onto the plane. easyJet were checking lots of people on both my flights x

I bought a Fjällräven Kånken for exactly this purpose

I've got this. I like how it's a back pack but opens up like a suitcase so easier to pack.

shutthewindownow · 07/04/2023 20:15

I use my beach bag it's squidgy so it fits under

Oblomov23 · 07/04/2023 20:33

Liking these.

I have what I think is called an aero lite mini max? Technically i think it's aimed at children as it has a Teddy holder on the front but it was fine for me. It's got wheels and I think if I remember correctly it also has back pack straps? I got it deliberately for easy jet weekend away and thought it was brilliant. Good number of pockets and felt roomy and I think was the exact max dimensions?

I got one of these for a recent Easyjet flight and it's perfect for under the seat, and fits plenty in it.

That’s exactly the one I have! I can manage for a long weekend with it. Don’t forget your handbag has to fit in as well although I generally wear a bum bag under my coat for travel documents and phone.

WashAsDelicates · 09/04/2023 06:47

The Aerolite Minimax looks clever. Are the backpack straps big enough for a tall adult?

Much as I like a tidy cuboid with lots of pockets, I want a bag that leaves my hands free as well.

i got a couple of holdalls that were the exact Ryan air size last year from decathalon. They were only about £7 each.

Am 5'8 and it was fine for me.

I use a small backpack that I bought at Sports Direct.

Helenloveslee4eva · 09/04/2023 08:11

I used a kanken rucksack. Flown Ryan air many times with it and daughter landed in Canada a few hours ago having gone “ cabin baggage only “ for 2 weeks - with the kanken and a cabin max backpack ( and Jml vac bags )

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 09/04/2023 08:35

I've just been on an EasyJet flight with small hand baggage and in my group of friends we had these bags - all got through with no problems:

With regard to the 20cm width, just make sure there's a tiny bit of space in your bag so you can, if necessary, squash it into the measuring cage. No one checked ours at all on either flight, but you need to be prepared for them to ask you to demonstrate that it fits.
