Did you know Mums aren’t allowed to fancy people?

Obviously lighthearted.

Teen DS has just told me I’m disgusting because I laughingly admitted having an epic crush on a YouTube ASMRist that I follow during a conversation about YouTube influencers.

In his words, it’s “totally gross and inappropriate for a Mum to fancy someone” and that I’m “too old for all that” (at 40)

Mums of Mumsnet! Tell us who you fancy so we can collectively shatter DS’s illusions and ruin his life! 😂

Other than the ASMRtist, I would definitely not say no to Andrew Garfield, Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy/Walking Dead) or Jake Johnson from New Girl.

There are some people it's socially acceptable for mums to fancy; Sean Bean, Paul Hollywood, Colin Firth Grin

Of course we’re not allowed to. 🤣 I told my teen DD that Vin Diesel would be my next fling (I haven’t ever had a fling to clarify) and her response was “that’s not even funny, it’s disgusting and very inappropriate as a married woman”. I told her her dad knew so it was fine.

@Motheranddaughtertotwo I think it’s brilliant that they think we cease to be human women once we’ve had sex those singular times just for procreation purposes. And as long as her Dad’s up to speed and has given you a pass… 😂

27 million and 1. Also recently seperated, it must be a sign we were meant to be 😁.

My eldest asked the other day If I'd had sex with their Dad, I pointed out they know where babies come from so we'd obviously had sex at least 3 times, they said "ewww" and walked off. If you don't want to hear rhe answer, don't ask the question.

I know evo-psych is often highly dubious, but from a perspective of maximising resources and survival chances it might make sense for children and young people to be predisposed to being invested in having both of their parents around, and not keen on the idea of their parents carrying out reproductive activity whether with each other or with other partners (on top of the natural disinclination to think about any close relative in a sexual context).

Either that or just "Ew, old¹ people having sex 🤢" 🤣

DD was 13 when I told her I was expecting her youngest sister. She burst into tears.

When I spoke to her, thinking it was about a baby in the house or jealousy or something....it was because she didnt like to hear about the fact that it meant I must have had sex AGAIN.

Bless her, I think that at that point she truly believed that people only had sex to make a baby....one "sex" = one baby. Job done! She is 25, has been to uni and now lives with her partner.....I think I can safely assume she no longer thinks that!

My DC wouldn't like me admiring anyone famous but they are 16 and 12 so not unexpected, the biggest cringe they have is over me having boyfriends prior to their Dad 😂

So many of these posts are so funny, I'm giggling away. It's funny once you become a mummy you cannot even look at the opposite sex without it getting frowned upon lol. I've an awful habit if I see a gorgeous man of saying "Ooh La La" which gives the game away I'm checking out another hottie that's not my hubby lol. I've a huge crush on Idris Elba, he literally makes me drool every time lol. My daughter tells me off and says I'm married to her dad! I mean really! Lol.
