Little things that make you happy - fine drying weather

What little things make you happy?

I got to hang out a load of towels this morning for the 1st time this year. I mean it was snowing a 3 weeks ago, torrential rain last week.

So hanging out the washing made me happy. Well until one of the towels got blown off the line and ended up in the bush 😂

I've dried mine out today, didn't take too long.
I've just put them in tumble drier for 10 minutes to soften them up

I did 3 loads yesterday and carrying the folded pile upstairs to put away was the highlight of the day Grin
2 loads put out by DH and DS today and in a minute I’m going to bring it all in and floomph it gently before sorting into piles for them to put away. Bliss.

My people! I’m so happy to be line drying again. I get so much satisfaction from ‘against the odds’ successfully dried loads in feb and November! But pretty much everything goes out, at least for a while, from now until October.

Honestly, line drying is one of my favourite things about summer! Standing back and admiring a lovely line of neatly hung out washing!

We are getting a new puppy soon and the weather was fine and sunny yesterday so all the dog toys (previous dog died last year) went in the machine and were all line dried yesterday .😄
Even started leaving windows open now .

The airer is out on the patio with a full load of clean laundry and I can't wait for that lovely air dried smell.

Now we just need it to warm up a bit...still nippy if you're not in full sun 🥶

Just folded up the bedding that’s been drying out on the line today, it smells lovely.
Lots of bees flying around and seen my first butterfly of the year 😊

I'm with you OP - sheets on the line for the past 2 days. Gorgeous

Also managed to drink a cup of tea in the sun, standing in the kitchen doorway so sheltered from the wind ☺️

Honestly for years I thought it was just me being a bit housewifey enjoying seeing a line of brilliant whites on the line , I kept it quiet so I didn't embarrass myself .😆

I love daffodils. I must plant more, not a lot came back this year.

Yay, it's not just me so. Very satisfying getting the washing on the line. I must go take it in now thought as I think it's supposed to rain where I am soon.

Usually can't put anything out due to our arsehole neighbour's thick chimney smoke all year round but got 1 load out on Saturday. Left it 4hrs and it was just as wet when I brought it in as when I put it out 😖. Covered in black beetles too.

My mum dries washing outside all year round and it's rarely not dry when she brings it back in. No idea how she manages it. I guess it's windier where she is and she's south facing (we're north facing).

Not laundry but the potted herbs on my kitchen windowsill are doing great in the sun. It makes me happy looking at them being green and leafy.

Yes to the line drying

But also I bagged up unwanted clothes that had been hanging around in the spare room and took them to the clothes bank - satisfying to see them gone and the spare room a wee bit tidier.

I have done 3 loads each day since Monday.

We have had frost in the mornings but have had a load on the line by 7.30am

Meant to rain here tommorrow afternoon, so hopefully get one load done early.

Hanging out two full lines of washing at 08:30 with the warm sun on my face was bliss. First time this year.
Still wearing my fleece though 😁

Has everyone remembered it's a 'day early' bin collection week, due to the Bank Holiday?
Not sure if this happens everywhere though 🤔

I love drying washing outside - freshly washed sheets, dried outside on my bed feels amazing!

Other things that make me happy: knitting, seeing birds in the garden, seeing spring flowers especially bluebells, grated cheese on baked potato and walking along a river on a sunny day.

Pottering about in the garden and then sitting on the patio getting the last rays of the sun (even if I am wrapped in my fleece!)

Repotting my tomato seedlings. Starting some basil. Chillis on the go in the window. My younger self would be astonished at my satisfaction.

Did some weeding in the sunshine this afternoon. Dh and I both had to remove layers because it was so warm. After month after month of rain and grey days it's bliss to be outside with nature and see so much coming into bloom. Bees were buzzing and so were we.
