M&S hot cross buns

Sagittariusrising · 04/04/2023 16:14

Just been looking at the M&S website at the various hot cross bun flavours they have this year.

I love their luxury traditional hot cross buns but has anyone tried any of the other flavours this year? I like the look of banoffee and the bramley apple ones in particular.

The blueberry ones are amazing

thegrain · 04/04/2023 21:03

They need to stop messing with them

grayhairdontcare · 04/04/2023 21:09

The cheese ones with some crispy bacon and a poach egg are brunch heaven

Just had to extremely cheesy ones and they are delicious

Yes, they said these were lovely on television

I like the apple ones and blueberry ones. Banoffee ones were too sweet. I am a big marmite fan but the marmite hot cross bun was one of the most disgusting things I've ever tasted.

I went in for some more today though and got the traditional ones. They are easily the best.

Forever42 · 04/04/2023 21:24

Today I also bought a hot cross bun flavoured Easter Egg from M&S. I fear it may be a step too far but it's for my Dad who likes weird flavours.

LadyT27 · 04/04/2023 21:27

I am outraged they are no longer sell the marmite and cheese ones. They were heaven!

DelilahBucket · 04/04/2023 21:29

Blueberry and cheese, both delicious. We've got some of the apple ones to try this week and will be getting banoffee and chocolate at the weekend.

OrlandointheWilderness · 04/04/2023 22:40

Apple, cheese and banoffee all bloody lovely.

I refuse to try them. A hot cross bun is a hot cross bun. If you don’t like dried fruit then eat something else!

Exactly. I am hot cross bun purist.

Pencilsaremylife · 04/04/2023 22:44

I’ve only tried the blueberry ones, yummy lightly toasted with butter.

😂 I hate hot cross buns. Might try some of these though!

Choc ones are amazing warmed in the micro to make them a bit squishy then filled with a blob of dairy ice cream and some choc sauce 😋

CallieQ · 05/04/2023 00:56

Blueberry are the best

LibertyLily · 05/04/2023 01:17

Apart from the traditional type, I only like the chocolate ones (red velvet is particularly weird imho and I'm not a fan of banoffee anything) and eat them heated in the oven with butter, never toasted. Co-op do chocolate orange ones but they're not as good as M&S chocolate.

MinnieMountain · 05/04/2023 05:31

Has anyone tried the Waitrose lemon and white chocolate ones? They sound completely wrong to me.

cantsleepforworrying · 05/04/2023 05:41

I can recommend Hackney Gelato hot cross bun ice cream......

Sagittariusrising · 05/04/2023 08:35

Well I popped into Pantheon Oxford Street store and they only had traditional, apple and blueberry - none of these fancy flavours you lot seem to be scoffing 😀
I picked up a couple of packets of each, along with a chocolate orange egg so Easter is now sorted.

I agree, can’t beat a traditional hcb.

Buns with cheese or apple or chocolate are NOT hot cross buns and shouldn’t be labelled as such

This ^%

chatelai · 05/04/2023 11:03

I have an passion for regular hot cross buns, not generally too keen on the flavoured ones. Really wanted to like the marmite ones last year, but they weren't marmitey enough!

However, this year Morrisons (?) is doing a lemon dribble one. Crikey, it's good. Pro tip, don't toast it, eat it as it is.

Crikeyalmighty · 05/04/2023 13:41

@msssm that's an Easter pudding sorted!

Sahara123 · 05/04/2023 14:22

Also a hot cross bun purist here !
I saw garlic butter hot cross buns somewhere on line this morning 🤢

msssm · 06/04/2023 00:28

It went down very well with my grandkids last year @Crikeyalmighty

LuluBlakey1 · 06/04/2023 00:34

I said earlier I am calling into M and S tomorrow. DH 'Will you get some Hot Cross Buns?'
Me 'Which ones?
DH 'All of them - just get one packet of each type.......and some butter.'
